Background Italia Srl, a Milan-based reputational due diligence and asset tracing firm, is looking for a motivated investigative professional to join its team tempo pieno. The selected candidate will support Italian and international clients through in-depth investigative work, including:
- Reputational due diligence on individuals and companies
- Background checks and pre-employment screening
- Corporate intelligence and asset tracing
- Structured OSINT research across open sources, media, registries, and databases • Conduct in-depth investigative and OSINT research, cross-referencing data from multiple sources to identify reputational, financial, and integrity risks relevant to the client
- Investigate corporate structures, beneficial ownership, and cross-border business relationships using international corporate databases
- Analyze national and international corporate registries and judicial databases, as well as industry-specific sources (e.g. Cerved, Orbis), to reconstruct corporate and personal profiles
- Critically assess and verify information gathered from multiple sources, distinguishing documented facts from unverified claims or inference
- Draft clear,
well-structured investigative reports, translating complex findings into accurate and actionable intelligence
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team’s research tools and investigative methodologies • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in investigations, reputational due diligence, or corporate intelligence (not compliance/AML alone)
- Proven proficiency with OSINT tools and investigative methodologies
- Prior experience with international corporate databases (e.g. Orbis/Bureau van Dijk, Cerved, or equivalent) and cross-border research
- Demonstrated experience drafting investigative or due diligence reports
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Precision, analytical rigor, and sound ethical judgment in handling confidential information
- Degree in Economics, Law, or Criminology (preferred)
- Knowledge of additional foreign languages (preferred) • Hybrid working arrangement, based in Milan
- Placement in a dynamic, structured environment, with exposure to international due diligence and asset tracing cases
