Optical System Engineer – Laser Communication (Lasercom)Location: Vicenza, Italy (hybrid)Employment Type: Full-Time | PermanentSalary: €*****K + Benefits | Relocation Package ProvidedThe Role:We are looking for a Laser Communication System Engineer to support the development of optical ground stations and satellite laser systems.
This role involves system design, performance analysis, and integration of cutting-edge optical technology for space and ground applications.
You will work closely with teams across engineering disciplines to deliver high-performance communication solutions.Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop optical ground stations for laser communication and satellite laser ranging.
- Define system architecture, requirements, and performance targets.
- Manage system interfaces and oversee integration and verification.
- Conduct simulations and performance analysis.
- Prepare technical documentation and coordinate with subcontractors.
- Support customer interactions and ensure project goals are met.What You'll Need:- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or Physics.
- 2+ years of experience in optical systems for laser communication.
- Knowledge of free-space optical communication, satellite laser ranging, or laser beam propagation.
- Proficiency in Matlab, Python, or Octave for simulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team.
- Good command of English.Preferred Skills:- Experience with adaptive optics, laser physics, photonics, optical detection, or tracking systems.
- Familiarity with optical communication system design and simulation tools.
