Purpose of the job
The Planner is responsible for preparing and coordinating vessel, yard, and rail plans to ensure efficient cargo flow and smooth terminal operations. This role supports operational teams by providing accurate plans, timely updates, and clear instructions that align with customer requirements, safety standards, and terminal capacity. The Planner works closely with multiple departments to ensure that vessel, yard, and rail activities are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Summary of responsibilities:
· Prepare vessel stowage plans for container and RORO vessels in accordance with operational priorities, safety rules, and customer instructions.
· Validate load and discharge lists, special cargo requirements, and DG documentation.
· Coordinate with shipping lines, cargo control, and documentation teams to ensure cargo readiness.
· Communicate vessel plans to execution teams and update plans as operational conditions change.
· Allocate yard space for import, export, transshipment for Containers, RO-RO and General Cargo based on vessel schedules,
DG segregation rules, and yard capacity.
· Monitor yard utilization and identify potential congestion or operational conflicts.
· Provide clear stacking and positioning instructions to yard strategist and equipment operators.
· Adjust yard plans in real time based on cargo flow, equipment availability, and operational changes.
· Prepare rail loading and unloading plans, including wagon allocation and cargo sequencing.
· Coordinate with rail operators, gate teams, and yard execution staff to ensure timely rail operations.
· Monitor rail performance and adjust plans to maintain service levels.
· Ensure rail operations align with customer requirements and terminal capacity.
· Work closely with Cargo Control, Gate Operations, Execution, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment between planning and real‑time operations.
