This position focuses heavily on protocol integration, cloud connectivity, and scalable IoT architectures.The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically curious, and comfortable working with complex distributed systems and low-level device communication technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesBackend & IoT DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services in PythonBuild and maintain IoT gateway applications running on Yocto LinuxImplement communication layers and integrations using protocols such as:SerialTCP/UDPRS485ModbusBACnetCANEnsure reliability through robust retry logic, error handling, and offline bufferingIntegrate devices with cloud platforms using protocols such as MQTTS and HTTPSContribute to backend architecture and continuously improve development practices and toolingDevice Protocol IntegrationAnalyze and integrate legacy, proprietary, and non-standard HVAC/building automation protocolsReverse engineer undocumented or partially documented protocols where necessaryDevelop Python drivers and parsers to convert device-level communication into standardized internal modelsCloud Integration & Data ModellingMap device data structures into Digital Twin modelsCollaborate closely with Cloud and Mobile teams to ensure semantic consistency across productsContribute reusable integration patterns, standards, and best practicesTesting & ValidationPerform end-to-end testing across device, gateway, cloud, and mobile layersConduct code reviews, debugging, optimization, and performance tuningSupport troubleshooting and field validation activities when requiredCollaboration & DocumentationWork closely with firmware, cloud, app, and product engineering teamsParticipate in cross-functional international collaborationProduce clear technical documentation and share integration knowledge across teamsRequired Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline5+ years of professional experience in backend software developmentAdvanced Python development experience with production-grade systemsStrong experience with Docker containerizationExperience designing and managing Kubernetes-based infrastructuresSolid knowledge of:PostgreSQLMySQLMongoDBRedisExperience working with IoT systems and communication protocolsStrong understanding of scalable backend architectures and cloud integrationsFluent English communication skillsNice to HaveExperience with Yocto LinuxHVAC, industrial automation, or building technology domain knowledgeExposure to Digital Twin architecturesExperience reverse engineering communication protocolsSoft SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving mindsetCurious and passionate about technologyStructured yet pragmatic approach to engineeringExcellent communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work independently in a remote-first environmentGoal-oriented with strong ownership mentalityWhat’s on OfferFully remote contract engagementOpportunity to work on cutting-edge IoT and cloud integration projectsInternational and collaborative engineering environmentFlexible working culture with strong work–life balanceExposure to innovative technologies in sustainability and smart building systems
