As a Senior Embedded & Full Stack Software Engineer, you will work in a highly international and multicultural environment, developing both embedded and full-stack applications that support critical research, monitoring, and operational activities across EU institutions.
What you will do
- Develop front-end user application architectures and modern user interfaces.
- Build new features to enhance user experience and application usability.
- Develop reusable and maintainable code for future enhancements.
- Apply security and data protection best practices, including input validation, authentication, authorization, secure storage, logging, and monitoring.
- Design responsive applications optimized for different devices and environments.
- Develop solutions capable of operating in limited connectivity environments.
- Participate in the design and development of embedded software solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, and functional code across the full technology stack.
- Analyze data, processes, and code to troubleshoot issues and identify improvement opportunities.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, bug fixing, and code validation.
- Develop and maintain full stack functionalities, including user interfaces, APIs, server-side business logic, and database interactions.
- Collaborate closely with front-end and back-end teams to ensure seamless integration of software components.
- Participate in the analysis, definition, improvement, and implementation of digital solutions for data management and visualization.
What we are looking for
- University degree and at least 10 years of professional IT experience.
- Professional experience in software development using technologies such as C++, Java, JavaScript, and Python.
- Experience in cross-platform development environments including Windows and Linux.
- Experience designing and implementing user interfaces using technologies such as QT, VueJS, LVGL, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with project configuration and build system management.
- Experience in Embedded Linux programming.
- Strong knowledge of source code versioning and management using Git.
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs, WebSockets, and web services.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with Java, Node.js, or PHP back-end development, including Spring Boot, Hibernate,
and REST API development.
- Experience with database schema design and query optimization.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience integrating industrial I/O, sensors, and peripherals.
- Knowledge of secure data transmission principles and technologies.
- Knowledge of graphical user interface design using QT, LVGL, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as RS-232, RS-485, SPI, I²C, and Modbus.
- Ability to apply security and cloud best practices.
- Experience integrating front-end and back-end builds into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multicultural teams.
- English and Italian language skills at B2 level or higher are mandatory.
- Knowledge of EU institutional environments and public administration processes is considered an asset.
