Mechanical Construction Manager – Data Centre

About the opportunity

PeoItaly, an employment agency authorised by the Italian Ministry of Labour, is conducting this search on behalf of a confidential international general contractor specialising in the design, construction and delivery of major Data Centre and mission-critical projects across Europe.

The company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join the project team supporting a large-scale Data Centre development in Bertonico, in the province of Lodi.

The successful candidate will be employed directly by the client and will take responsibility for managing mechanical construction activities on site, ensuring that the works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with the required technical and quality standards.

This opportunity is particularly suitable for a construction professional with strong experience in HVAC, piping and building-services installations who is comfortable coordinating subcontractors and managing complex site activities through construction, testing, commissioning and final handover.

Key responsibilities

- Manage and oversee all mechanical construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead day-to-day mechanical site operations in coordination with the wider project team.
- Supervise mechanical subcontractors, monitoring performance, productivity, manpower levels and progress against the agreed programme.
- Coordinate mechanical activities with Project Managers, Planners, consultants, design teams and other construction disciplines.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, technical submittals and construction documentation to verify compliance, quality and buildability.
- Liaise with the design team to ensure that drawings, technical information and material submittals are issued in accordance with programme requirements.
- Oversee the installation of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping and associated building services.
- Ensure that mechanical works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable standards and quality requirements.
- Implement and maintain the required QA/QC processes,



inspections and project records.
- Ensure that subcontractor documentation, including quality and health and safety documentation, is complete and kept up to date.
- Attend and lead site meetings, engineering reviews, planning meetings, coordination meetings and handover meetings.
- Monitor construction sequencing, interfaces and dependencies with electrical, CSA, BIM and commissioning teams.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical, design, installation and coordination issues.
- Support commercial management by monitoring costs, reviewing variations and participating in regular commercial meetings.
- Prepare and issue progress reports to senior management and the wider project team.
- Manage mechanical snagging and punch-list activities, ensuring the timely close-out of outstanding items.
- Support testing, commissioning, completion and handover activities for mechanical systems.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements while promoting a strong safety culture across the site.

Candidate profile

We are interested in candidates with:

- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least eight years of professional experience in mechanical construction, with a strong focus on site management.
- Proven experience managing mechanical installations on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, piping and associated mechanical building services.
- Practical understanding of mechanical installation, testing, commissioning and handover processes.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, multidisciplinary coordination and programme delivery.
- Proven experience supervising subcontractors and driving progress against project milestones.




- The ability to review and interpret drawings, specifications, technical submittals and construction documentation.
- Strong leadership, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international project teams.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Availability to work full-time on site in Bertonico, in the province of Lodi.

Previous experience in Data Centres or other mission-critical environments is highly valued. Candidates with relevant experience in industrial plants, pharmaceutical facilities, hospitals, energy projects, advanced manufacturing or other technically complex construction environments may also be considered.
