We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join an international and multicultural environment supporting scientific and policy-oriented projects related to the European forest-based sector. The successful candidate will contribute to the collection, management, analysis, and visualization of complex datasets, while developing analytical workflows, databases,
and data-driven solutions that support strategic decision-making and scientific research.
This role requires a strong background in data science, GIS technologies, forest-based sector data analysis, and quantitative modelling, combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse, validate, and cross-compare European, international, national, regional, and local datasets related to wood resources and wood-based products.
- Design, develop, and maintain analytical databases supporting forest-based sector research and assessments.
- Collect, clean, structure, and prepare data from heterogeneous sources, ensuring data quality and consistency.
- Develop and maintain annual Wood Resource Balance Sheets at EU and Member State level.
- Create and maintain static and web-based Sankey diagrams representing woody biomass flows, including automation scrip
