This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Python/Django) based in Italy.

The role combines hands-on backend engineering with software architecture responsibilities, particularly around operations, automation, and scalability. You will help strengthen engineering quality through testing, code reviews, documentation, and modern development practices. Working closely with Product and QA teams, you will turn complex business requirements into resilient and maintainable solutions. You will also have the opportunity to tackle technical debt and performance challenges in a high-load environment. This is a fully remote role within a collaborative, international team that values continuous improvement, knowledge sharing,



and autonomy.

Accountabilities
- Build, maintain, and optimize mission-critical microservices using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework (DRF).
- Design and develop scalable APIs capable of supporting high-concurrency traffic and significant usage peaks.
- Contribute to software architecture, with a particular focus on operations, automation, resilience, and scalable engineering practices.
- Establish and maintain strong quality frameworks through comprehensive unit testing with Pytest and automated quality checks.
- Identify and resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, inefficient database queries, N+1 problems, and asynchronous processing issues.
- Design and implement microservices that integrate effectively with complex third-party systems and services.
