ppWe are seeking an experienced Performance Engineer PE with strong expertise in CFD simulation, 1D thermal system modeling, thermal management, and full-vehicle cooling performance development for commercial vehicle programs. The engineer will act as the technical focal point for engine cooling performance, supporting the complete development process from simulation and system sizing to vehicle validation and correlation activities. /p pThe ideal candidate is: /p ul lihighly skilled in Star-CCM+, ANSA, and at least one 1D simulation tool such as Amesim, GT-Power, or similar, and is capable of balancing numerical simulations with experimental correlation, documentation, and cross-functional alignment. /li lirecognized as a cooling and thermal management expert, capable of understanding, simulating, validating, and optimizing the complete vehicle cooling system. /li /ul h3Key Responsibilities /h3 h3CFD Simulation Numerical Analysis (~40%) /h3 ul liPerform advanced CFD studies for engine cooling and vehicle thermal management. /li liConduct geometry preparation and high-quality meshing using ANSA and Star-CCM+. /li liSet up, run, and post-process simulations using Star-CCM+. /li liAnalyze cooling performance KPIs, identify performance gaps, and propose engineering improvements. /li liSupport optimization of airflow distribution through the cooling package and underhood environment. /li /ul h3Cooling System Architecture Thermal Management /h3 pAct as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complete engine cooling system architecture and thermal management. Possess deep technical understanding of the operating principles, performance, sizing criteria, and interactions of: /p ul liRadiator /li liCharge Air Cooler (Intercooler) /li liCondenser /li liEngine Fan and Fan Drive Systems /li liAir Intake System /liliExhaust System /li liWater Pump /li liThermostat and Coolant Control Devices /li liExpansion / Degas Tank /li liCoolant Piping and Valve Systems /li liEvaluate component-level and system-level impacts on cooling performance and thermal robustness. /li liSupport cooling package architecture definition and optimization. /li liAnalyze airflow management through the cooling module and engine compartment. /li liSupport troubleshooting of thermal issues identified during simulation or vehicle testing. /li /ul h31D Cooling System Modeling /h3 ul liDevelop and maintain 1D models for cooling system sizing and optimization. /li liUse Amesim, GT-Power, or equivalent tools at an expert level. /li liIntegrate 1D simulation results with CFD analyses to support system-level engineering decisions. /li liPerform sensitivity studies and scenario assessments.
/li liSupport cooling component sizing and thermal balance calculations. /li /ul h3Experimental Correlation Validation Activities /h3 ul liSupport correlation activities between simulations and physical test results. /li liParticipate in on-road testing campaigns for data collection and model validation. /li liSupport climatic chamber and roller bench testing activities. /li liExecute structured correlation processes to improve model accuracy and predictive capability. /li liAnalyze test data and identify root causes of cooling performance deviations. /li liProvide technical recommendations based on test and simulation findings. /li /ul h3Validation Planning Project Integration /h3 ul liDefine, maintain, and manage project-specific Virtual Validation Plans (VVP) and Development Validation Plans (DVP). /li liIdentify representative physical vehicles, prototypes, and configurations required for validation campaigns. /li liDefine validation matrices, operating conditions, instrumentation requirements, and acceptance criteria. /li liEnsure alignment between simulation activities, validation plans, and program milestones. /li liCoordinate validation activities with Vehicle Integration Responsible (VIR), testing teams, project managers, and component owners. /li liEnsure traceability between requirements, simulations, validation activities, and final performance targets. /li liSupport design reviews by providing simulation, testing, and validation insights. /li /ul h3Methodology Development (~10%) /h3 ul liEnhance CFD and 1D modeling methodologies, best practices, and automation processes. /li liImprove validation strategies, correlation procedures, and performance assessment frameworks. /li liCollaborate with simulation and CAE specialists to advance modeling capabilities. /li /ul h3Reporting Communication (~50%) /h3 ul liPrepare detailed technical reports, executive summaries, and engineering presentations. /li liPresent analyses and recommendations to engineering and management teams. /li liClearly communicate technical risks, validation status, and mitigation plans. /li liSupport project decision-making through data-driven engineering assessments. /li /ul h3Required Qualifications /h3 ul liDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering,
