Epassi has been recognised by the Financial Times as one of the fastest-growing companies in Europe on multiple occasions. /p pWe are currently hiring a bSoftware Engineer (Java) /b based in bMilan /b (hybrid work). /p h3Your mission at Epassi /h3 pYou will report to the Head of Engineering Italy and join a backend engineering team. You'll own your service areas end-to-end - from design through to production and collaborate closely with mobile and web engineers to ship features that are reliable, well-documented, and built to last. /p pThis is a hands-on technical role for someone who takes quality seriously, integrates well into a team, and doesn't need close supervision to deliver. Your work will directly power Epassi's B2C consumer and B2B merchant platforms. /p h3Your responsibilities will be: /h3 ul liBuild and maintain Java-based microservices that power both the B2C and B2B platforms,
following API-first principles /li liDeliver features end-to-end, from implementation through testing and release /li liDesign clean, well-documented REST APIs consumed by web and mobile clients, with backward compatibility and versioning discipline /li liAlign on API contracts, data models, and integration patterns early in the development cycle /li liWrite unit and integration tests that give the team genuine confidence in what you ship /li liOwn incidents within your service areas, contribute to post-mortems, and follow through on fixes /li liParticipate actively in code review, maintaining and helping refine team engineering standards /li liIdentify and address technical debt within your service areas as your confidence in the codebase grows /li /ul h3You’ll be successful in this role if you: /h3 ul liDeliver features end-to-end without close supervision, fully autonomous on the team's stack within your first 6 - 12 months /li liShip APIs that are well-documented, consistent with team conventions, and require minimal rework after review /li liEarn positive feedback from mobile and web engineers - integration issues caught early, not at delivery /li liContribute meaningfully to at least one cross-cutting improvement, whether in testing, observability, tooling, or performance /li /ul h3What you should bring:
