As our Senior Composite Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of performance-critical components for the TGR Haas F1 Team race car.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Composite Design, you will contribute to the development, optimisation, and delivery of composite components, working closely with engineering and production teams to support car performance objectives. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of composite design projects, from concept through to race introduction, within a fast-paced Formula 1 environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Composite Design & Development
- Design and develop composite components for the Formula 1 car
- Contribute to component development planning and race introduction strategies
- Support composite design activities from concept through to completion
- Drive continuous improvement in component design with a focus on vehicle performance
Technical Development & Innovation
- Contribute to concept development and research activities within the Composite Design Group
- Perform research and development activities to support future vehicle performance
- Apply engineering principles and design best practices to deliver robust, high-quality solutions
- Support the development of innovative composite design concepts
Project Delivery & Collaboration
- Contribute to workload planning and prioritisation within the Composite Design Group
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure successful component delivery
- Liaise with the Race Team to review component reliability and support design revisions where required
- Work closely with production areas to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture
Continuous Improvement
- Support the ongoing improvement of composite design processes and methodologies
- Contribute to maintaining high standards of quality, performance, and delivery
- Share technical knowledge and support collaborative problem-solving across the team
What You'll Bring
Essential
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years' design experience within a professional motorsport environment
- Strong understanding of composite component design
- Expertise in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of composite and machine shop production processes
- Ability to lead composite design projects from concept through to completion
- Strong focus on vehicle performance and continuous improvement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication skills and strong English language proficiency
Desirable
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Previous Formula 1 experience
- Experience supporting the development and introduction of race car components
