ph3Data Center Engineering Operations Technician - AWS Owned DC, DCEO /h3 pJob ID: | Amazon Data Services Italy S.R.L. /p pThe successful candidate will perform hands-on operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for AWS-owned Data Centers (DC) in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud regions. Our engineers are directly operating and maintaining AWS DCs' world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, the successful candidate will perform facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures. /p pThis is a highly hands-on, field-based role requiring a motivated, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems while striving for operational excellence. The work follows a process-oriented approach: the individual needs a strong willingness to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities. /p pThe successful candidate will be part of the Engineering and Facilities team and will be responsible for maintaining availability for customers, ensuring maintenance and operation of technical infrastructure, and the upkeep and operation of the DC facility. /p pThis is a 100% in-person onsite position due to the hands-on nature of managing mission-critical infrastructure. The role operates on a shift-based schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage of data center operations, which may include day shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays. /p pThe applicable collective agreement for this role is CBA for employees of Telecommunication Sector. The position is classified at level 5 or above, depending on the candidate's skills, competences and experience. /p h3Key job responsibilities /h3 h3SAFETY /h3 pFollow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team member, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture. /p pLead by example in implementing and maintaining AWS safety protocols. /p pRespond to emergency situations and coordinate with emergency services as needed. /p h3ENGINEERING FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE /h3 ul liHands-on operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment,
including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers /li liOperate, monitor, and maintain fire detection and suppression systems including pre-action systems, VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus), and other fire protection equipment /li liPerform routine inspections and testing of fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, and suppression systems in accordance with AWS standards and local regulations /li liTroubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA's) /li liTake daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.) /li liPerform hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance activities on critical infrastructure /li liExecute equipment repairs, replacements, and facility modifications in accordance with AWS standards /li liDirectly perform routine maintenance tasks including filter changes, equipment cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs /li liMaintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, equipment performance, and system configurations /li liCollaborate with internal AWS teams on capacity planning and infrastructure improvements /li liCoordinate and oversee contractor work when specialized services are required /li liRespond to alarms and perform emergency troubleshooting and repairs /li liManual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with health safety regulations) /li /ul h3Basic Qualifications /h3 ul liProfessional or formal Electrical Certification or Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in an Electrical field /li liDemonstrate key electrical competencies (Practice Theory) knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls)
