DATA for MED
TITLE: Senior Construction Project Manager – Data Center (M/F/X)
LOCATION: Caserta
SALARY RANGE: 80-120k euros
ABOUT US
DATA for MED develops and delivers data center infrastructure in the Mediterranean. Our first data center, 10 MW IT, is rising in the province of Caserta and is the first phase of a multi-year programme extending across Italy and abroad.
We are part of an industrial group with a long history in construction and a dedicated structure for the construction of its data center projects.
We are at the beginning: whoever joins now does not inherit the playbook — they write it.
YOUR ROLE
As Data Center Senior Construction Project Manager at DATA for MED, you will own the delivery of our first data center: a 10 MW IT facility in the province of Caserta, and the first step of a multi-year development programme.
Construction is awarded to two separate general contractors both contracted directly by DATA for MED. You will be the owner's single point of reference to both, governing the interface between them. That interface is where a project like this is won or lost.
The ideal candidate combines a solid grasp of mission-critical construction with the ability to make people work together who do not report to them. The role is fully site-based, ensuring real governance and clear responsibilities across all parties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the project end-to-end: tendering, construction, commissioning and handover
• Act as the owner of quality, schedule, cost, HSE and overall project delivery
• Govern the interface between the general contractors: space handover matrix, binding milestones, one integrated programme
• Enforce on site the requirements a critical facility places on construction: tolerances, fire compartmentation, envelope tightness, cleanliness regime
• Drive the commissioning path through progressive levels up to integrated systems testing
• Manage contracts and procurement follow-up, including major equipment
• Supervise contractors and service providers, providing guidance and support
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and proactively flag savings and overruns to protect target values
• Define and monitor delivery KPIs, and report to ownership
• Own industry and environmental certification targets and the evidence behind them
• Stand up the operations function: maintenance strategy built on the as-built, procedures, hiring, handover governance
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE THAT WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
• Minimum 10 years in construction project management, preferably data centers or a similar mission-critical environment
• At least one critical facility delivered in a position of construction responsibility
• Owner-side or project management contractor experience: governing third-party contractors rather than self-performing
• Experience of sites with multiple prime contractors working in parallel
• Working knowledge of the commissioning process and what it requires from civil and MEP works
• Strong contract administration and project controls: programme, progress, variations, claims, budget
• Comfortable using a federated BIM model as a site tool
• Experience working in an international environment; fluent English, spoken and written
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and decision-making skills
• Nice to have: Tier III/IV data center experience, ANSI/TIA-942, PMP, Uptime ATD/ATS, EPI CDCP, LEED AP
WHAT WE OFFER
• A role that starts on the first building and grows with the programme, in Italy and abroad
• The chance to build the organisation rather than operate inside one — including the foundations of the operations team
• Permanent contract and relocation support for candidates moving from outside the region
• Direct access to ownership: fast decisions, no intermediate layers
OUR APPROACH TO PAY
We publish the salary range because a negotiation should start from shared information. Placement within the range is determined by objective, gender-neutral criteria: years as construction lead on projects above EUR 20 million, number of critical facilities completed in a position of responsibility, experience coordinating multiple contractors, and industry certifications. We do not ask candidates what they currently earn.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through LinkedIn. For each relevant project, please state the client, the value of the works, your role and the dates: that is what we will use for the first screening.
This search is open to candidates of any gender, pursuant to Italian Legislative Decrees 198/2006 and 96/2026. Personal data will be processed under Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
