Job Summary:
The Field Application Specialist, Bio will provide scientific and application expertise to support Nova Biomedical's Bio business in South Korea. The position will serve as a technical and scientific resource for customers, distributors, and internal teams throughout the pre-sales and post-sales lifecycle.
The role will be responsible for customer application support, product demonstrations and evaluations, application training, workflow optimization, troubleshooting, and technical consultation across Nova Biomedical's Bio portfolio. The Field Application Specialist will work closely with Sales, Service, Marketing, and global application teams to deliver effective customer solutions and support business growth.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with life science analytical instruments, including imaging and cell analysis technologies, as well as a solid understanding of Bio and biopharmaceutical customer applications. Strong scientific communication, presentation, problem-solving, and customer engagement skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Provide pre- and post-sales application support to customers and distributors through on-site visits, phone, email, and remote sessions.
- Conduct product demonstrations, customer evaluations, proof-of-concept studies, and technical presentations to support new business opportunities.
- Provide hands-on application training covering instrument operation, software, workflows, sample preparation, data interpretation, and relevant applications.
- Troubleshoot application, workflow, software, and instrument-related issues in collaboration with Field Service Engineers and relevant internal technical teams.
- Assess customer workflows and application requirements and recommend appropriate solutions using Nova Biomedical's Bio portfolio.
- Support customers in optimizing experimental workflows and maximizing the effective use of Nova Biomedical products.
- Develop and maintain strong scientific and technical relationships with customers, particularly within biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, academic, and research organizations.
- Understand customer applications, research objectives, workflow requirements, and technical challenges and translate them into appropriate application solutions.
- Identify emerging customer needs, application trends, and market opportunities and communicate relevant insights to Sales, Marketing, and Product Management.
- Support customer seminars, workshops, user meetings, scientific conferences, exhibitions, and other technical marketing activities.
- Develop relationships with key users and scientific influencers and support the development of customer reference sites and application success stories.
- Partner with Key Account Managers and Sales teams throughout the sales cycle, from opportunity development and qualification through demonstration, evaluation, and closing.
- Provide scientific and technical input for account strategies, customer proposals, product positioning, and competitive opportunities.
- Support cross-product and solution-oriented selling by identifying opportunities where multiple products or applications can address broader customer requirements.
- Provide technical support for competitive displacement and expansion opportunities by clearly communicating the scientific and application advantages of Nova Biomedical solutions.
- Develop and deliver application and product training programs for customers, distributors, Sales, Marketing, and Service teams.
- Develop and maintain application notes, protocols, FAQs, training materials, technical presentations, and other application resources.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies, scientific applications, competitive products, and emerging trends in the Bio and biopharmaceutical markets.
- Share application knowledge and field experience with internal and global application teams to strengthen organizational technical capabilities.
- Work closely with Key Account Managers, Field Service Engineers, Marketing, and Global Application/Technical Support teams to provide coordinated customer support.
- Communicate customer feedback, application challenges, competitive intelligence, and market needs to relevant internal teams.
- Support investigation and resolution of escalated customer application issues and coordinate with global technical resources when required.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of local application strategies, technical materials, and customer support processes.
Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in life science, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, laboratory instrumentation, or related industries.
- Proven hands-on experience with analytical or research laboratory instruments. Experience with imaging systems, cell analysis platforms, microscopy, high-content screening, flow cytometry, or other advanced Bio analytical technologies is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting customers in the Bio, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, academic research, or life science market.
- Experience providing customer-facing application support, technical consulting, product demonstrations, application training, or workflow optimization.
- Strong understanding of biological laboratory workflows and the ability to translate scientific requirements into practical instrument and application solutions.
- Strong scientific presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish credibility and trusted relationships with customers, Key Account Managers, Sales teams, Service Engineers, and global technical teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills with a customer-focused and solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple customer projects, and prioritize activities in a field-based environment.
- Proficiency in Korean and business-level English, with the ability to communicate effectively with global application and technical teams.
- Experience with CRM systems, ERP systems, and standard business software is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Frequent domestic travel throughout South Korea is required (50% or more).
- Occasional international travel may be required for global training, customer support, conferences, and technical meetings.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds as required.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, or climb as needed.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (e.g., noise, temperature, equipment).
- Ability to operate tools, machinery, or technical equipment.
- Ability to work in customer laboratory environments and conduct hands-on demonstrations, training, and application evaluations.
- Ability to conduct presentations, workshops, seminars, and customer training sessions.
- Ability to handle and transport laboratory instruments, demonstration equipment, and related materials as required for field activities.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
