We bring together researchers, policy analysts and contributors to produce accessible, evidence-based analysis of European developments.

About the Role EU Policy Insight is seeking an experienced Editorial Director / Editor-in-Chief (Volunteer) to lead our editorial function and oversee the quality, consistency and publication of our research and policy analysis.

The Editorial Director will work closely with the Director, Head of Research, Research Coordinators and Policy Researchers to transform research into high-quality publications.

Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate the editorial process from submission to publication

Review, edit and approve policy articles, research briefs and analytical publications

Ensure clarity, structure, consistency and professional writing standards

Review sources, references and factual claims for accuracy and appropriate support

Work with researchers and contributors to strengthen their analysis and presentation

Develop and maintain EU Policy Insight's editorial guidelines and standards

Coordinate editorial deadlines and publication schedules

Provide constructive feedback to researchers and contributors

Maintain a consistent editorial voice across EU Policy Insight publications

Collaborate with the Communications team when research is prepared for public dissemination

Contribute to the long-term development of EU Policy Insight's research and publication standards

Requirements PhD required in Law, European Studies,



Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Economics, or a closely related field

Strong expertise in European policy, law, regulation, governance or related areas

Excellent written and spoken English

Demonstrated experience in academic, policy or professional editing

Strong analytical, proofreading and editorial skills

Experience reviewing research papers, policy analysis, academic publications or similar work

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to factual accuracy

Ability to coordinate and provide constructive feedback to researchers and contributors

Ability to work independently in a remote, volunteer environment

Previous experience as an editor, academic reviewer, journal editor, policy analyst or researcher is strongly preferred.
