Overview In this role you will contribute to ABB’s next-gen People Protection products by evolving the RCBO platform from concept to validation. You’ll operate in a multidisciplinary R&D; setting, blending mechanical design, prototyping, and testing to turn ideas into reliable products for global use. You will apply digital engineering and AI tools to speed development and support technical decisions.

This position is based in Vittuone, Milan, within the Smart Buildings team and offers collaboration across engineering disciplines to create safer, smarter protection devices.

Responsabilità

- Contribute to the development and evolution of ABB's RCBO platform from concept through product validation
- Design electromechanical solutions for next-generation protection devices from concept to CAD modeling, prototyping, testing and validation
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies and technical documentation using CATIA V5 and Creo
- Perform engineering studies and simulations to optimize performance, robustness, reliability and manufacturability
- Support prototype assembly, laboratory testing and validation activities in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams




- Apply digital engineering methodologies and exploring AI-powered tools to improve product development processes
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Testing, Manufacturing and Quality teams to deliver innovative solutions
- Identify technical risks and support objectives related to quality, cost and timing
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, engineering methods and industry trends

Requisiti fondamentali

- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Good knowledge of mechanical design principles and product development processes
- Experience with 3D CAD design tools; CATIA V5 and/or Creo is highly appreciated
- Basic knowledge of engineering simulation tools and methods (structural, thermal or multiphysics)
- Interest in Artificial Intelligence applications for engineering, simulation and product development
- Knowledge of MATLAB is a plus
- Knowledge of SAP and PLM/PDM environments is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Fluent in Italian and English
