Overview
As a Senior Instrumentation & Control Software Engineer, you will design, implement, test, and commission PLC-based process control solutions for HVAC and thermofluid applications in engine and vehicle testing.
You'll collaborate with partners to develop PLC software, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and communication protocols, while ensuring modular, standards-based, scalable systems.
Your work supports sustainable mobility and energy transition initiatives and involves hands-on commissioning and customer training.
You will shape technical specifications and drive continuous improvement.
Responsabilità
Design the core architecture of process control systems (PLCs, HMI, SCADA, drives, networks)
Develop PLC software, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and third-party communication protocols
Perform commissioning and start-up activities at customer sites
Prepare final system documentation and user instructions
Deliver internal and end-user training on control systems
Continuously improve systems with a focus on standardization, modularity, flexibility
Define technical specifications for outsourced developments when needed
Requisiti fondamentali
5+ years of PLC software design in industrial and/or automotive environments
Technical diploma or degree in Computer Science,
Automation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field
Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, process control, thermodynamics, and mechanics
Expertise in PLC-based control systems, especially Siemens (TIA Portal, S7)
Experience with Safety Integrated in Siemens TIA Portal
Proven experience with HMI/SCADA (WinCC Unified, Emerson Movicon, Ignition)
Knowledge of industrial Ethernet protocols and fieldbuses (Profinet, Profibus, EtherCAT, OPC UA, CAN, Modbus, IO-Link, MQTT); ability to develop drivers
Programming skills in JavaScript, HTML, Python, C#, C++
Structured, modular, and standardized PLC software development
UX/UI-focused HMI/SCADA design and web-based technologies
Knowledge of applicable industrial standards, regulations and safety directives
Willingness to travel within Italy and occasionally abroad
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team-oriented; agile problem solver; good English level
