Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Research & Development
In this role you will support embedded software development in structured R&D; projects and in software ecosystems for prototyping, contributing to innovation projects, enabling software ecosystems for prototyping, and collaborating with partner teams while establishing an internal/external network.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and verify embedded software in the field of embedded system projects.
- Enable Infineon MCU portfolios for Arduino, ROS and Zephyr software ecosystems.
- Develop and test embedded software libraries mainly for actuators and sensors for Infineon MCU hardware platforms.
- Capture, analyze and understand requirements and break them down into structured work packages.
- Represent Infineon at events such as trade fairs and university fairs.
- Supervise working students and interns to develop leadership skills.
Qualifications & Skills
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics or a comparable discipline.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in embedded software development, preferably in the semiconductor industry or in robotics, with hands‑on experience in C, C++ and Python.
- Experience with embedded Real‑Time Operating Systems such as Zephyr and FreeRTOS, and with embedded system development workflows and tools.
- Very good knowledge of MCU architecture/operation (interrupts, IPC etc.) and communication peripherals (Ethernet, CAN, UART, SPI etc.).
- Good knowledge of ROS2 and simulation tools (IsaacSim, MuJoCo) is a plus.
- Fluency in English is mandatory;
proficiency in German and Italian is a plus.

Pay Information
Indicative Salary Range – Padova, Italy: 38320€ – 52690€.
The stated salary comprises annual base pay and target variable compensation. The starting salary is determined using objective, gender‑neutral criteria including relevant experience, qualifications and role scope;
prior compensation is not requested or considered. Employees also benefit from a comprehensive total rewards package, which may include further compensation and vantaggi elements depending on local regulations and company policies.
