At Leva, every project begins with a blank page. You will turn creative ideas into mechanical systems that can be manufactured, assembled, tested, transported, installed, and operated reliably in public spaces around the world.

This is a hands-on mechanical design role for an engineer who enjoys unusual problems, rapid prototyping, close collaboration with fabrication and motion-control specialists, and seeing one-off systems operate at full scale.

The position can be filled at mid or senior level. We will assess level through the scale and complexity of the systems you have owned, your technical judgment, design-review and supplier responsibility, risk management, validation scope, and support for other engineers.

In this role you will:

- Translate creative and project requirements into feasible mechanical concepts, kinematic layouts, dimensional studies, and first-order structural calculations.
- Take mechanisms and mechanical subsystems from concept through detailed design, prototyping, testing, and release.
- Design structures, motion-transmission systems, linkages, guides, drive mechanisms, tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
- Identify technical risks early, compare design alternatives, and define the prototypes or tests needed to validate critical assumptions.
- Make informed manufacturing and make-or-buy decisions based on performance, tolerance, quantity, cost, lead time, finish, and maintainability.
- Work directly with suppliers to source standard and custom components, resolve technical questions, and ensure manufacturability and quality.
- Produce clear manufacturing drawings, specifications, and accurate Bills of Materials that support traceable fabrication and assembly.
- Build and test prototypes using additive manufacturing and workshop processes, diagnose failures, and convert test results into design improvements.
- Support assembly, installation, and commissioning, define mechanical acceptance criteria,



and verify that the finished system maintains the original design intent.
- Collaborate with fabrication, creative-technology, embedded, motion-control, and project teams while owning the mechanical design and its interfaces.
- At mid level, independently own defined mechanisms or mechanical subsystems, present design options and risks, coordinate suppliers, and support the assembly and commissioning of the systems you design.
- At senior level, own the mechanical architecture of complete installations or major systems. Lead feasibility, technical trade-offs, design reviews, supplier strategy, risk management, validation, and mechanical root-cause analysis, while supporting the development of other engineers.

Must have:

- Demonstrated experience taking mechanisms, machines, or physical products through concept, detailed design, prototyping, testing, and release.
- Strong capability in parametric 3D mechanical CAD. Experience with Fusion 360 or Inventor is useful, but strong users of comparable platforms are welcome.
- Practical understanding of kinematics, mechanisms, motion transmission, structural sizing, materials, tolerances, and mechanical interfaces.
- Experience producing manufacturing-ready drawings, specifications, and accurate BOMs.
- Sound DFM/DFA and manufacturing-process selection judgment across several relevant methods, such as CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, additive manufacturing, molding, or specialist processes.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, assembly, functional testing, and mechanical root-cause analysis.
- Ability to work pragmatically with suppliers, fabrication teams, assembly teams, and colleagues on site.
- English sufficient for technical collaboration and documentation, minimum B2.




- Willingness to work primarily from Leva’s Turin workshop and travel for installation and commissioning according to project requirements.

Key skills:

- Strong practical engineering judgment, including the ability to work with incomplete or evolving requirements.
- Structured problem-solving and the ability to distinguish assumptions, risks, and verified findings.
- Ability to compare technical options and make pragmatic trade-offs between performance, cost, lead time, and reliability.
- Clear verbal and written communication with both technical and non-technical collaborators.
- Ownership of documentation, quality, and delivery—not only the CAD design.
- Adaptability without losing engineering rigor or traceability.
- Constructive collaboration across disciplines, with the confidence to challenge decisions when technical evidence requires it.
- Experience with surface-led geometry, kinetic installations, robotics, special machinery, exhibits, entertainment technology, or bespoke low-volume systems is useful but not required.
- Experience mechanically integrating motors, actuators, transmissions, guides, sensor mounts, and cable management is a plus. Controls programming is not required.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance-stack analysis, FEA, fatigue, reliability, machine safety, or design for maintainability is welcome but optional.
- Experience with public-facing permanent installations, international suppliers, site work, or global commissioning is a plus.

As a reference, compensation for mid-level profiles typically starts at around €32,000 RAL + benefits package. For senior candidates with strong and directly relevant experience, the offer may increase up to €42,000 RAL + benefits package.
