Generative Bionics
About Us
Generative Bionics is a deep-tech company building humanoid robot platforms to deploy human-centered Physical AI. We design intelligent, capable machines that work alongside people in real-world environments — developed in Genova, Italy.
Role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on, and strategically minded Head of Industrialization to lead the end-to-end industrialization of our humanoid robotic platforms across both Make and Buy scopes.
This role will be responsible for transforming product designs and prototype builds into robust, repeatable, and scalable industrial systems. The successful candidate will lead the engineering functions responsible for component industrialization, assembly methods, manufacturing equipment, production processes, and supplier industrial development.
The Head of Industrialization will establish and manage an integrated organization including:
- Components Engineering;
- Methods Engineering;
- Tools & Machinery Engineering;
- Manufacturing Engineering;
- Supplier Development Engineering;
Working closely with Product Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Test Engineering, and external industrial partners, the role will ensure that product, process, equipment, suppliers, and production capacity mature together from early development through SOP and production ramp-up.
The position owns the industrialization governance model, ensuring that increases in production volume are authorized only when product maturity, supplier readiness, process capability, tooling, quality, and production capacity have been demonstrated through objective industrial gates. This reflects the planned integration of component, methods, equipment, manufacturing, and supplier-development responsibilities within a unified industrialization organization.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the overall industrialization strategy for Generative Bionics’ humanoid robotic platforms, covering both internally manufactured products and externally sourced components and subsystems;
- Build, lead, and develop the Industrialization & Engineering organization, defining responsibilities, interfaces, technical competencies, staffing plans, and operating processes;
- Translate company production targets and product roadmaps into industrial master plans covering process development, supplier development, tooling, equipment, facilities, capacity, quality, and capital investment;
- Establish a scalable industrialization operating model suitable for the transition from prototypes and pilot production to pre-series, serial production, and rate production;
- Act as the primary industrial interface between Product Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and external manufacturing partners;
- Define industrialization priorities, resources, budgets, and execution plans across multiple product-development programs.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline;
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Industrialization Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Supplier Development, or Advanced Manufacturing;
- At least 5 years of leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams;
- Demonstrated experience leading products from prototype or early development through pre-series, SOP, and production ramp-up;
- Strong experience across both internal manufacturing and externally sourced components or subsystems;
- Proven ability to build and manage Industrialization Engineering organizations covering product, process, equipment, manufacturing, and supplier development;
- Experience defining and implementing Make-or-Buy strategies;
- Strong knowledge of DfM, DfA, DfT and DfC, APQP and PPAP, DFMEA and PFMEA, process flow and control plans, manufacturing process validation, process capability, production-system design, line balancing, capacity planning, industrial automation, lean manufacturing, structured problem solving;
- Experience with complex electromechanical products in robotics, automotive, aerospace, e-mobility, industrial automation, electronics, medical devices, or other advanced manufacturing sectors;
- Experience managing tooling, machinery, production lines, automation projects, FAT, SAT, commissioning, validation, and production acceptance;
- Strong experience in supplier selection, supplier development, industrial audits, capacity assessments, PPAP, supplier recovery, and supplier ramp-up;
- Experience managing significant CAPEX programs and preparing industrial business cases;
- Strong understanding of precision mechanical assembly, electrical integration, controlled fastening, dispensing, press-fit processes, calibration, functional testing, and End-of-Line systems;
- Familiarity with CAD, PLM, ERP, MES, manufacturing-simulation, and project-management systems;
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills;
- Ability to operate effectively in a rapidly evolving environment with incomplete information, changing product designs, and aggressive development schedules;
- Fluent English. Italian is highly valued;
- Availability to travel nationally and internationally is expected;
Valued Extras
- Experience in humanoid robotics, collaborative robotics, robotic actuators, mechatronic systems, or Physical AI products;
- Experience industrializing products characterized by high technical complexity, low initial volumes, rapid engineering changes, and aggressive scale-up targets;
- Knowledge of actuator manufacturing, precision gearboxes, electric motors, bearings, encoders, force/torque sensing, battery systems, wiring harnesses, and safety-control electronics;
- Experience with product-cost reduction, VA/VE, design-to-cost, should-cost analysis, and supplier productivity programs;
- Experience establishing pilot plants, advanced manufacturing cells, pre-series production lines, or greenfield manufacturing operations;
- Knowledge of Siemens Process Simulate, Tecnomatix, DELMIA, Visual Components, FlexSim, or equivalent simulation and digital-manufacturing platforms;
- Experience with Industry 4.0, digital twins, virtual commissioning, manufacturing analytics, machine connectivity, and AI-enabled industrial applications;
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 12100, ISO 10218, ISO 13849, machinery safety, CE marking, and Functional Safety principles;
- Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous-improvement background;
- Experience developing modular, replicable production systems capable of scaling across multiple factories or geographic locations;
We Offer
- The opportunity to shape the future of humanoid robotics in a fast-growing deep-tech company;
- A collaborative and innovative work environment with world-class teams;
- Competitive employment terms under the CCNL Metalmeccanico;
- Opportunities for continuous learning, professional growth, and career development;
- A collaborative culture focused on innovation, continuous learning, and people excellence;
