Position: PDF Annotation & Transcription Experts – Gujarati
Type: Contract
Compensation: $13/hour
Location: Remote
Role Responsibilities
- Source documents by finding publicly accessible Gujarati PDFs with multimodal elements like images, tables, or handwriting.
- Annotate structure by identifying and bounding meaningful regions such as titles, headings, and figures, and assign component types and reading-order indices.
- Record relationships by linking each region to its parent component, such as figures or tables.
- Transcribe text faithfully in Gujarati script, including handwritten content, and flag illegible regions.
- Capture page metadata including language, document type, source, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
- Review a colleague's work, ensuring tasks are reviewed end to end by a second Gujarati expert.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Native Gujarati speaker with full command of the script.
- Experience in annotation, transcription,
translation, or regional-language data review.
- High character-level accuracy.
- Systematic approach to applying taxonomy across pages.
- Comfort with unfamiliar layouts like multi-column newspapers and handwritten forms.
Preferred
- Experience with regional-language AI data annotation, labeling, or bilingual evaluation.
- Skills in transcription and localization, such as MTPE, subtitling, or OCR correction.
- Document production experience in typesetting, copy-editing, or proofreading Gujarati-language material.
- Knowledge of script and encoding, including Unicode normalization.
