Rebell is building something Europe has never had before: a Super App.
A single gateway where people can shop, pay, book, connect, and manage their daily lives across multiple countries, without switching between dozens of apps.
/ppIn Asia, super apps like Alipay and WeChat have transformed the way hundreds of millions of people live and interact.
/ppRebell is already funded (+35M EUR) and staffed with senior leaders from Alipay, Twint, Scalapay, Qonto, and Glovo.
The launch is planned for late ****, and the project is fully financed, thus no dependency on short-term fundraising.
/ppWe are now hiring a Tech Lead to lead the definition and evolution of our merchant-side platform, dedicated to in-store and online digital payments.
/ppThis is not a coordination role.
You will own technical delivery end-to-end, from specification to production, leading a distributed engineering team based in China.
/ppThe role: Rebell's merchant platform runs across two engineering hubs, one of them a 15-person team based in Chengdu.
/ppWe're hiring a Tech Lead to take full ownership of the China-based engineering team, planning, execution, release quality, and become the person who actually understands how both platforms talk to each other: payment lifecycle, merchant integration, bank gateway.
You'll turn a distributed, multi-vendor setup into one that ships fast and doesn't surprise anyone.

/ph3What you'll do /h3ulliOwn end-to-end delivery of the Chengdu-based platform team: planning, execution and release quality, reporting to the IT Integration Director.
/liliBe the technical bridge between the two platforms: master how both work, payment lifecycle, merchant integration, bank gateway, and make cross-platform dependencies visible and managed, not discovered.
/liliRaise specification quality at the source: write PRDs, ISAs, API contracts and acceptance criteria to Rebell standards, cutting review iterations and lost-in-translation rework.
/liliManage the vendor relationship day to day: own scope, estimates and acceptance from the Rebell side, rather than receiving them from the vendor.
/liliGrow the team's autonomy: coach engineers on Rebell's ways of working, Jira as the single delivery channel, documented decisions, testable requirements.
/liliSplit your week across team management (daily stand ups with the China team), technical reviews, and stakeholder alignment with partners such as A+ (Alipay) and Wipro.

/ph3About you /h3p5+ years of experience as a developer, front-end, back-end, or full-stack, with ownership of projects matching your scope and team size.
Not a pure PM profile, and not only theoretical knowledge: you have shipped a live integration.
/pulli2+ years of experience as a tech team leader, with real ownership of projects and their impact.
/liliComfortable discussing cloud environments (multi-zone, Fargate, DynamoDB) and able to review architecture decisions without being the architect yourself.
/liliExperience with payment flows (merchant integration, API, onboarding), REST APIs, webhooks and authentication; exposure to compliance or AML is a plus.
/liliExperience in regulated industries and in fast-growing, high-pace scale-ups.
/liliFluent in Italian, English and Mandarin.
/liliWilling to travel to China at least twice a year.
