Overview
As an OT Applications & Data Engineer, you implement and support industrial IT and OT data systems for process manufacturing clients. You work on real-time data infrastructure, alarm management, and data flows, connecting control-layer sources to historians and enterprise systems. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, well-structured data delivery and practical solutions.
This role offers exposure to AVEVA PI, alarm management, and OT/IT integration in a global context. You will contribute to digital transformation and operational excellence in manufacturing environments.
Responsabilità
- Implement, configure, and integrate OT/IT data flows connecting DCS/PLC/SCADA to historians, data platforms, and enterprise systems via APIs and standard interfaces
- Configure and maintain AVEVA PI components (PI Data Archive, Asset Framework, interfaces/connectors) for real-time and historical data
- Support and optimize alarm management, including classification, rationalization, and analysis of alarm performance
- Set up industrial connectivity using OPC UA and OPC A&E;, including tunnelers/wrappers for secure data bridging
- Ensure secure, well-structured production data flow across the IT/OT landscape for operations and decision-making
- Provide ongoing OT/IT system support and troubleshoot cross-network data integrations
- Collaborate with AG, customers, and partner OT/IT teams to align solutions with operational needs
- Contribute to knowledge management, best practices,
and troubleshooting guides for industrial IT data solutions
Requisiti fondamentali
- Hands-on experience in industrial IT, OT, automation, or data engineering
- Degree in IT, Engineering, or related field – or equivalent professional experience
- Strong IT all-rounder profile covering networking, software, and data integration / APIs
- Working knowledge of OPC UA and OPC A&E;
- Understanding of DCS environments and tunnelers/wrappers in OT connectivity
- Baseline knowledge of alarms and alarm classifications
- Experience with production data flow in a process manufacturing environment
- Fluent German and English (B2+)
- Based near Cologne or willing to relocate; able to travel regionally to customer sites
- Authorized to work in Germany
- Hands-on experience with AVEVA PI (PI Data Archive, Asset Framework, interfaces/connectors)
- Experience with alarm management systems, ideally Honeywell Alarm Management
- Experience in chemical, pharma, food & beverage, or energy sectors
- Familiarity with ISA-95, IEC 62443, MQTT, EtherNet/IP
- Hands-on experience with SCADA, DCS, historians, or MES systems
- Scripting/programming and relational database (SQL) skills
- Experience in global or multicultural project environments
- Interest in growing toward a Solutions Architect role
