Quality Control Manager / Product Developer
The Quality Control Manager / Product Developer works cross-functionally within the R&D; team and the NPD team and will help Minerva to manage the development of new products to our Japanese Manufacturing site, covering the complete process of bringing a new product to the market, including the research of technology availability, active ingredients sourcing, formulation and quality control, in order to support and optimise the manufacturing process and guarantee the quality and the efficacy of the products before the launch date and when already on the market.
The Quality Control Manager / Product Developer shall support MINERVA on the following aspects of the business:
1) Quality control
- Inspection of bought-in materials, semi-finished and finished products (physical properties examination and microbiology testing).
- Carry out stability and safety tests for new products to set the shelf-life length and to guarantee quality monitoring over time.
- Assure technical specifications and safety, quality, accuracy, reliability requirements are met.
- Handle and resolve post-launch complaints – existing product implementation.
- Oversees effective implementation of adopted processes, schedules and procedures.
- Manage and oversee laboratory set-up for new product development.
2) Product Development
- Manufacture new finished products.
- Help Minerva develop innovative formulations – mainly collagen-based liquid supplements in different formats.
- Prepare lab samples.
- Estimate costs.
- Support the manufacture of dry goods.
- Create the certificate of analysis for each product/batch and product standards form.
- Supporting the production tests at the manufacturing site.
- Market regulation check (quality, technical and regulatory requirements).
3) Operation/Supply chain
- Manage the stock of raw materials and dry goods.
- Support for shipping in Japan and overseas.
- Oversee the production and shipping schedules.
- Ensure a smooth shipment process of goods.
- Create the shipping documents and custom clearance documents.
- Manage the re-order of raw materials and dry goods.
- Communicate with key customers and internal stakeholders.
All with the objective of:
- Supporting the efficient development phase of new products.
- Supporting the efficient manufacturing of products.
- Set-up a laboratory to develop samples of new products and implement existing formulations.
- Establishing professional relationships with colleagues and external partners.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Quality Control Manager / Product Developer will support MINERVA’s R&D; team and NPD team, managing the efficient development of new products to guarantee their safety and efficacy according to regulatory requirements worldwide.
Main responsibilities shall be:
1. Research activities
- Active ingredients research.
- Project description compilation.
2. Project definition
- Active ingredients/materials sourcing and selection.
- Suggestion of technology availability.
- Packaging research and sourcing.
- Market regulation check (Japan, China, EU, GCC countries, Canada and US).
3. Project design
- Active ingredients concentration and combination determination.
- Formula lab samples preparation and approval.
- Finalize formula and packaging.
- Provide technical specifications of raw ingredients and finished products, according to regulatory requirements.
4. Product development
- Validation of samples.
- Ingredients list compilation.
- Supplying information of ingredients, technical specifications and MSDS.
- Manufacturing strategy validation.
- Organise and monitor stability tests and lab analysis.
- Safety assessment.
- Stability/Microbiological Testing/Certificate of analysis.
- Final regulatory approval.
- Handmade/lab/pre-production samples approval.
- Logistic coordination.
- Materials info collation.
5. Production
- Technical supporting documents provision both for regulatory and operations purposes.
- Verification/validation of finished products quality and safety.
- Goods release.
In addition to the objectives listed above from time to time the Company may request at its own discretion the engagement of the Quality Control Manager / Product Developer on additional objectives, initiatives or priorities.
Required knowledge/skills
- Fluent in English and Japanese an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience in NPD management, quality control and production planning.
- Knowledge of the nutracosmeceutical industry – specifically proven experience in the development of collagen-based food supplements.
- Ability to work and communicate well with external business partners based worldwide.
- Ability to set yourself demanding goals and overcome challenges to achieve them.
- Focused on quality and attention to detail, you will not compromise standards.
- Ability to define your own roles and constantly look for ways to exceed what has been asked.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: €40,000.00 - €45,000.00 per year
