These strategic technological initiatives stand out for their international scope and strong commitment to socially oriented results. /p pWe are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join an international and multicultural environment supporting scientific and policy-oriented projects related to the European forest-based sector. The successful candidate will contribute to the collection, management, analysis, and visualization of complex datasets, while developing analytical workflows, databases, and data-driven solutions that support strategic decision-making and scientific research. /p pThis role requires a strong background in data science, GIS technologies, forest-based sector data analysis, and quantitative modelling, combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liAnalyse, validate, and cross-compare European, international, national, regional, and local datasets related to wood resources and wood-based products. /li liDesign, develop, and maintain analytical databases supporting forest-based sector research and assessments. /li liCollect, clean, structure, and prepare data from heterogeneous sources, ensuring data quality and consistency. /li liDevelop and maintain annual Wood Resource Balance Sheets at EU and Member State level. /li liCreate and maintain static and web-based Sankey diagrams representing woody biomass flows, including automation scripts and update processes.



/li liPerform statistical and quantitative analyses to support scientific studies and policy-related initiatives. /li liProduce data visualisations, graphs, charts, infographics, and other communication materials to present analytical findings. /li liDevelop and maintain software tools and reproducible analytical workflows supporting scientific projects. /li liCollaborate with external stakeholders, including industry representatives, academic institutions, and SMEs, to collect data and define analytical requirements. /li liPrepare technical documentation, reports, training materials, workshop content, and contributions to scientific publications. /li liPresent methodologies, results, and limitations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. /li liWork closely with multidisciplinary teams in a multilingual and international environment. /li /ul h3What We Are Looking For (Requirements): /h3 h3Required Qualifications: /h3 ul liUniversity degree corresponding to EQF Level 7 (Master's degree or equivalent). /li liMinimum 5 years of professional experience in IT and data-related roles. /li liVery good command of English and Italian (minimum B2 level or equivalent), both written and spoken. /li /ul h3Technical Expertise: /h3 ul liMinimum 5 years of experience with Python. /li liMinimum 5 years of experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS. /li liMinimum 10 years of experience working with GIS technologies and tools. /li liMinimum 5 years of experience using e!Sankey. /li liMinimum 5 years of experience using MATLAB or Octave.
