The company is an academic spinoff accredited by the University of Bari, Italy and an emerging industry player in Europe. Position SummaryAn Atomic Physicist who will be part of our technology team. The candidate will play a critical role in the rapid prototyping of customized laser-written vapor cells (LWVCs) and atomic-photonic chips. The candidate will work closely with a team including a Prototyping Manager and an R&D Scientist. Duties and responsibilitiesModel and simulate atomic physics problems for quantum sensing and metrology applicationsDesign and operate a vacuum/pressure system for filling and sealing of all-glass vapor cellsPerform hands-on fabrication and integration of all-glass atomic photonic-chipsGuide the prototyping team with the design of custom-designed vapor cells and atomic-photonic chipsInteract with early customers and researchers to solve atomic physics problems collaborativelyDevelop component and system-level absorption spectroscopy and magneto-optical testing setupsWork with the prototyping team to transition/scale testing for performance evaluationContribute to the expansion of our IP portfolio through patent filingContribute to the writing of scientific publications using QSENSATO’s innovative technologyContribute to the writing of regional, national, European and international grants Work experience requirementsDemonstrated theoretical and experimental expertise in atomic physics and photonics is requiredSimulation of atomic physics problems for quantum sensing and metrology applicationsHands-on test and data analysis experience in both atomic and optical physics domains.Experience with miniaturized vapor cells and atomic quantum sensors will be an asset. The individual must be highly self-motivated and must thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment. Education requirementsA Ph.D. or postdoc in experimental atomic physics is required.English (full professional proficiency). Italian and other languages will be an asset. Technical competencesExperience with simulating the physics of hot atomic ensembles with high-level research toolsDemonstrated experimental expertise in filling vapor cells with atomic compounds and other gas mixture and/or with microfabrication techniquesExperience in testing miniaturized vapor cells and/or magneto-optical setupsCompetency with simulation, design, data analysis softwares (Mathematica, Matlab, Labview, COMSOL, Inventor, or similar) Soft skills/CompetencesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with creative thinkingExcellent written and oral communication skills,
