Questa tesi si concentra sull'addestramento di un agente di Reinforcement Learning (RL), utilizzando algoritmi per il controllo continuo come DDPG, SAC o PPO, per sostituire un controller PID standard o nello spazio di stato. La ricerca esplorerà come l'agente RL gestisce i disturbi rispetto a un PID ben tarato e se può imparare a compensare naturalmente l'attrito o il gioco senza un modello matematico esplicito. Una sfida chiave sarà il gap "Sim-to-Real", che richiederà l'addestramento in ambienti di simulazione (es. MATLAB/Simulink o Python) prima del deployment sull'hardware reale.

This thesis focuses on training a Reinforcement Learning (RL) agent,



utilizing algorithms suited for continuous control such as DDPG, SAC, or PPO, to replace a standard PID or state-space controller. The research will explore how the RL agent handles disturbances compared to a well-tuned PID and whether it can learn to naturally compensate for friction or backlash without relying on an explicit mathematical model. A primary challenge addressed will be the "Sim-to-Real" gap, involving training in simulation environments like MATLAB/Simulink or Python before deployment to real hardware.
