The Securitisation team structures, executes and distributes asset-backed and capital-relief transactions across UniCredit's Italy, Germany, Austria and CEE footprint. The desk covers the full product range — true-sale ABS (auto, leasing, consumer, RMBS), synthetic / Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) trades, CLOs and financial-guarantee structures — working alongside clients, sponsors, rating agencies, investors and internal credit, capital and legal functions. The internship offers direct, hands-on exposure to live deal execution at investment-banking standard.
What you'll be doing
The intern will support senior bankers across the full transaction lifecycle — origination, structuring, execution and distribution — contributing to quantitative analysis, portfolio modelling, marketing materials and client- and committee-ready deliverables. This is a demanding, execution-focused role suited to a high-calibre candidate seeking a career in structured finance.
- Support the structuring and execution of ABS and SRT / synthetic securitisation transactions, from pitch to closing.
- Build and maintain cash-flow models, waterfalls, and portfolio stratifications; run scenario, stress and rating-agency sensitivity analyses.
- Analyse reference pools and collateral tapes (auto, leasing, consumer, corporate), assessing eligibility, concentration, credit enhancement and residual-value exposure.
- Prepare client pitchbooks, investor presentations, term sheets and internal credit / committee materials to investment-banking quality standards.
- Conduct market, peer and precedent-transaction research across asset classes,
countries and originators.
- Develop and apply AI / machine-learning models to support pool analytics, data cleansing, portfolio segmentation, predictive credit and prepayment analysis, and automation of recurring reporting and documentation tasks.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (credit, risk, capital management, legal, treasury) and external counterparties (rating agencies, law firms, investors) under supervision.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualifications & Experience
- Final-year undergraduate, Master's student or recent graduate in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong academic record from a leading university; coursework or experience in fixed income, structured finance, credit or financial modelling is a plus.
- Prior internship experience in investment banking, structured finance, capital markets, consulting or a quantitative role is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of financial statements, credit risk and, ideally, securitisation / regulatory-capital fundamentals (CRR / Basel, STS, SRT).
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling (cash-flow waterfalls, portfolio analytics).
- AI / machine-learning competence: practical experience building or applying models in Python and using the AI prompting language; ability to translate large, messy datasets into decision-useful analysis and to automate workflows.
- Proficiency in data handling and visualisation; Excel and PowerPoint to a high standard.
- Bloomberg / Intex / rating-agency modelling tools a plus.
Personal Attributes
- Rigorous, detail-oriented and numerate, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work autonomously and deliver accurate, well-structured output under deadline pressure.
- Clear written and verbal communication; capable of producing senior-audience materials.
- Team player with a proactive, ownership mindset and high professional standards.
Languages
- Fluent English (written and spoken) essential.
- Additional European languages, an advantage given the team's footprint.
What you’ll get in return
- Direct exposure to live securitisation transactions and senior deal teams.
- Structured on-the-job training and mentoring within a leading European bank.
- A pathway to a graduate for outstanding performers.
