My client is a well-established, private equity-backed independent power producer with a strong and growing presence across Europe. Following a recent acquisition in ****, the business is entering a new phase of expansion, with a significant renewable energy pipeline in Italy multi GW portfolio across solar PV, onshore wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).The Italian platform is headquartered in Milan, with a large team of professionals and a strong track record in project development and execution. The company has a well-resourced origination function across Europe and is now looking to strengthen its commercial capabilities in Italy.
The RoleThe Head of PPA Origination will lead commercial origination activities in Italy, with a strong focus on corporate PPAs and BESS offtake structuring. This is a senior, front-office role requiring a highly entrepreneurial and sales-driven individual with deep market knowledge and an established network of corporate energy buyers.
The position sits within a broader European origination team and will work closely with senior leadership, including the Head of Origination. While initially an individual contributor role at Director level, there is clear potential to scale responsibilities in line with the growth of the Italian portfolio.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the origination, structuring, and execution of long-term corporate PPAs in ItalyDrive BESS offtake origination, including development of innovative commercial structuresIdentify, engage,
and manage relationships with key corporate offtakers and energy buyersLeverage existing industry network to originate new commercial opportunitiesCollaborate cross-functionally with development, finance, legal, and engineering teamsStructure commercially viable and competitive energy solutions tailored to client needsMonitor Italian energy market dynamics, regulatory developments, and procurement trendsRepresent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetingsCandidate Profile5+ years' experience in renewable energy origination, energy trading, or corporate energy salesProven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing corporate PPAsStrong understanding of the Italian CPPA market and key BESS offtake dynamicsEstablished relationships with corporate energy buyers and/or utilities in ItalyDemonstrated ability in PPA structuring and commercial deal-makingHighly entrepreneurial, proactive, and self-motivated mindsetStrong sales orientation with excellent communication and negotiation skillsFluent in Italian and EnglishWhy Apply?
