Volt Infrastructure is a company operating in Italy in the development and delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects, with a strong focus on Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

The company is integrated across the entire project lifecycle, from land identification and early stage development through engineering, permitting, EPC contracting, construction, and delivery. Our engineering team plays a central role in ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and optimization of project performance, working within structured and standardized processes that are key to our success.

The role

You will prepare layouts, drawings and grid connection documentation for our projects. You will learn the full development cycle of utility-scale photovoltaic and energy storage plants in Italy, working with the development and permitting teams as well as external designers.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare preliminary plant layouts in AutoCAD based on site data and constraints: module/tracker arrangement, substations, BESS blocks, fencing, access roads and cable routes
- Prepare HV-MV single-line diagrams, technical drawings and reports for permitting procedures and STMG applications
- Prepare and upload STMG application documentation through the Terna and e-distribuzione portals; monitor status, deadlines and correspondence
- Run PVsyst/PVCase simulations and power checks for different layout options
- Support the sizing and selection of components (modules, inverters and trackers)
- Map constraints and grid infrastructure in QGIS (lines, primary substations and distances) to support feasibility studies

- Participate in site visits and technical meetings with colleagues and stakeholders
- Maintain the technical archive in good order: drawing registers, revisions and connection solutions for each project
- Liaise with external consultants regarding drawing updates and documentation requests

Essential requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering
- At least 18 months’ experience in PV or BESS design with a developer, EPC contractor or engineering consultancy
- Direct experience preparing STMG applications, using the Terna/e-distribuzione portals or preparing permitting documentation
- Good proficiency in AutoCAD, QGIS and Microsoft Office; experience using PVsyst or PVCase on real projects
- Knowledge of MV/LV systems and Italian standards (CEI 0-16, CEI 0-21)
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and confidence working with document-intensive processes
- Fluent Italian; good spoken and written English
- Team-oriented attitude, willingness to learn, motivation to work in renewable energy and willingness to travel occasionally

Desirable requirements

- Experience with BESS or agrivoltaic projects
- Experience on photovoltaic construction sites
- Python or advanced Excel skills for data and layout checks
- Registration with the Italian Register of Engineers (or currently pursuing registration)
