Operations Manager – Global Freight Forwarding & Execution_Relocation to India Location: Florence, Italy (HQ Onboarding) Mumbai, India (Relocation) Department: Global Operations & Supply Chain Reporting To: Director of Operations, India Contract Type: Full-time, Multiyear International Assignment (Renewable) About the Role The role of Operations Manager will oversee local and international freight execution. Following a structured onboarding period at our Global HQ in Florence, Italy, you will relocate to Mumbai to lead end-to-end Air & Ocean import/export operations, optimize logistics workflows, and manage local operational teams. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership: Oversee daily Ocean & Air freight movements, ensuring high service levels, optimal transit times, and flawless execution from origin to destination. Carrier & Vendor Management: Negotiate operational terms, allocate volume across ocean liners and airlines, and audit performance against service-level agreements (SLAs) with drayage, customs, and warehousing partners. Process Standardization & Compliance: Implement local SOPs, enforce strict compliance with international transport regulations, customs requirements, and Incoterms 2020. Escalation & Exception Management: Serve as the senior point of escalation to resolve supply chain disruptions, port congestion, routing issues, and operational bottlenecks. Performance Metrics & Systems: Track operational KPIs (file profitability, dwell time,
carrier compliance) and maintain absolute data integrity within the TMS platform. Onboarding & Relocation Structure Phase 1: HQ Integration (Months 1–3 | Florence, Italy) Immersive training on company operational systems, global control tower frameworks, standard operating procedures, and cross-functional alignment. Phase 2: Operational Deployment (Month 4 Onward | Mumbai, India) Relocate to Mumbai to take direct control of local logistics operations, manage ground teams, and drive operational efficiency. Candidate Profile Experience: 3–5 years in freight forwarding operations, station management, or international logistics execution (Air & Ocean required). Languages: Professional fluency in Italian and English (required); working knowledge of Hindi is an asset. Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of import/export documentation (HBL/MBL, AWB, Bill of Lading), customs clearance, Incoterms 2020, and transport management systems (TMS). Mobility: Full commitment to execute a multi-year assignment in India. Full employment visa sponsorship provided.
