Overview

Project Engineer at Hitachi Rail contributes to the full project lifecycle, from bid to delivery, coordinating cross-functional engineering teams. You will ensure regulatory compliance, manage requirements, and drive design reviews and verification activities. The role centers on delivering complex railway projects on time and within budget while interfacing with customers and suppliers. This is a chance to shape technical solutions within a global, multi-disciplinary environment.

Responsabilità

- Plan and coordinate engineering activities across the project lifecycle
- Lead multi-discipline teams to meet requirements, standards, schedule, budget and quality targets
- Prepare bid and execution documentation (proposals, plans, review reports)
- Develop Product Data Sheets during bid phase for cost consolidation
- Ensure System Requirements Specifications are submitted for supplier engagement
- Maintain Requirements Traceability Matrix with verification and validation evidence
- Act as primary technical interface with customers for project documentation
- Conduct design reviews internally and with customers
- Monitor progress, risks and opportunities; escalate as needed
- Collaborate with Project Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Certification & Safety
- Assess impact of customer changes and support change process
- Manage non-conformances per internal processes




- Coordinate testing and validation activities
- Support certification and homologation documentation and strategies
- Ensure proper project configuration management throughout lifecycle

Requisiti fondamentali

- 3–5 years experience in railway sector or complex industrial environments
- Knowledge of main railway regulations and standards
- Knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management tool
- Understanding of engineering processes and railway operations
- Knowledge of system engineering and requirements management disciplines
- Knowledge of RAMS principles and processes
- Knowledge of design verification and validation methodologies
- Knowledge of main vehicle architectures and functions
- Knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering disciplines
- Proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across complex lifecycles
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, international environment
- Strong organizational, teamwork, problem-solving and results-driven mindset
- Ability to liaise with internal/external stakeholders
- Willingness to travel for short national/international trips
- Languages: English at least B2 level
