Senior Designer (Building Envelope / Bespoke Engineering)

Location: Italy / Hybrid | Position: Open.We are looking for a Senior Designer to support the development of complex and bespoke engineering projects.This role focuses on the translation of engineering concepts into detailed, buildable designs, working closely with engineers and project leads.You will be involved in projects where standard solutions do not apply, requiring precision, adaptability, and a strong understanding of how things are actually built.Who we are looking for:We are not looking for a draftsman. We are looking for a designer who understands how things are built, capable of contributing actively to the development of technical solutions, not just representing them.
Tasks
- Develop 2D and 3D technical drawings for building envelope and bespoke components
- Translate engineering concepts into clear and buildable details
- Support engineers in the development of technical solutions and coordination
- Produce detailed design packages including:– construction details– assembly drawings– fabrication-oriented information
- Ensure consistency and accuracy across drawings and models
- Coordinate with internal team members and external consultants
- Contribute to resolving technical and geometrical issues during design development
- Support the preparation of deliverables for client and contractor review
Skills
- Degree or technical background in Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent
- Strong experience in technical design within construction / façade / bespoke elements
- Advanced proficiency in:– CAD (AutoCAD or similar)– 3D modelling (Rhino & Inventor preferred)
- Solid understanding of:– construction detailing– materials and assemblies– tolerances and buildability
- Ability to interpret and develop complex technical drawings
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with parametric modelling (Grasshopper)
- Familiarity with façade systems or non-standard architectural elements
- Experience working on international projects
- Basic understanding of structural or thermal principles
