As a Senior Optical Transceiver Engineer at Nokia, you drive the evaluation, validation, and introduction of advanced pluggable transceivers for Datacom and Telecom—from 100G to 1.6T. You will work within a global, cross-functional optics team to define requirements, support supplier selection, and shape the product portfolio. You lead test strategy definition, remote validation coordination, and hands-on lab validation in automated environments, contributing to Nokia’s cutting-edge optical solutions. and validation groupsPerform technology scouting and assess enabling optical/microelectronics technologiesReview RFQ feedback and rank supplier capabilities to meet Nokia needsMaintain knowledge of transceiver form factors, MSA specifications and industry standards (ITU-T, IEEE, OIF)Operate effectively in an international, virtual team with strong communication and adaptabilityTravel internationally as required to support validation and supplier engagementsProvide hands-on validation support and ensure alignment with product roadmap and quality goalsSolid experience with pluggable optical transceivers for Datacom and Telecom (100G, 200G, 400G, 800G, 1.6T)Deep knowledge of transceiver form factors and MSA specificationsExperience with enabling optics and microelectronics technologies, including optical propagationFamiliarity with industry standards ITU-T, IEEE, OIF for optical xysqume interfacesProven experience in optical transceiver validation and laboratory testingExperience in test automation of validation setupsPreferred: Python, LabVIEWExperience in technical discussions, assessments, and negotiations with optical module suppliersStrong project and program management capabilitiesSenior level autonomy in a technical roleFluent in English; Italian nationality; strong communication in Italian and Englishstrong communication and collaboration in virtual teamsflexibility and adaptability in a global contextproactive and accountable mindsetPythonLabVIEWSenior Optical Transceiver Engineer
