To serve as a liaison in promoting positive relations between the Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, their hearing peers, faculty, administration and other staff.This facilitator will need to have strong American Sign Language skills as well as understand the role of facilitating languageEssential Job Functions:Demonstrate knowledge of the Ohio Guidelines for Educational InterpretersFollow classroom schedule and interpret for students as mandated by the student's IEPInterpret all class activities (during the contracted day) to include: lectures, discussions, films/videos, assemblies,



and any related assignmentCollaborate as a member of the educational team obtaining lesson plans as well as providing in-service for new staff members about working with an interpreter/DHH student in the educational settingMaintain confidentiality as required by District policy, The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Professional Code of Conduct, and applicable lawPursue self-improvement and professional development opportunities in signing ability, interpreting skills and establishing a better understanding of the educational processAttend all In-service/Professional xysqume Development programming and staff meetings as requiredMinimum Qualifications:Ohio Department of Education Associate License Interpreter for the Hearing Impaired2 years of college coursework, OR an Associate's Degree or higher, OR high school diploma with passage of the ParaPro Assessment prior to employmentStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to lift equipment, supplies and/or children weighing at least forty (40) poundsPhysical ability to perform all of the essential functions of the job.
