Assignment type: B2B The Lead HPC Platform System Debug Engineer plays a critical role in troubleshooting and debugging issues across HPC and Cabin ZCU platforms within a multi-domain, cross-functional team focused on vehicle software validation and quality assurance.
Main Responsibilities
To ensure the stability and functionality of systems through rigorous validation processes.
- Reproduce and debug software issues during bench, HIL/ViL, vehicle, and program-validation activities; perform initial root cause analysis and triage.
- Integrate software components from internal teams and external vendors; conduct sanity and smoke tests to ensure build stability.
- Reflash builds, execute updates, and assist FOTA investigations; implement small configuration changes to verify hypotheses and fixes.
- Identify issue ownership with specialists and domain teams; facilitate agreement on corrective actions and release strategies.
- Document root causes, workarounds, and next steps; communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain and adapt validation setups, including minor bench wiring or hardware modifications to isolate issues.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, Automotive Engineering, or a comparable field.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded software debugging, platform integration, system validation, or root cause analysis.
- Strong understanding of automotive E&E; architecture, vehicle subsystem interactions, and HPC software architectures.
- Hands-on experience with system-level debugging, issue reproduction, root cause analysis, and technical triage.
- Practical experience with hypervisor-based platforms and proficiency in QNX and Linux/Android; familiarity with bootloaders (U-Boot, ABL) and debugging tools (JTAG, Lauterbach, GDB, etc.).
- Knowledge of software flashing, updates, and FOTA concepts; familiarity with diagnostics and communication protocols (UDS, DoIP, OBD-II, CAN, etc.).
- Strong communication skills for articulating technical findings and preparing technical reports.
- Experience with benches, HIL/VHIL environments, and/or vehicle testing.
- Willingness to work on-site in Turin and travel occasionally (10-20%).
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Qualcomm 7255/8255 or equivalent HPC-class SoCs (NVIDIA, Intel, etc.).
- Previous work in cross-functional issue-resolution teams or vehicle-integration projects.
- Familiarity with infotainment domains such as displays, cameras, or vehicle networking.
- Exposure to issue-tracking, software release, and quality management processes.
- Understanding of AUTOSAR BSW / Adaptive AUTOSAR and ASPICE-compliant workflows.
