Role Description The Head of Engineering at TRIPS GmbH is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Milan Metropolitan Area. This role oversees the engineering organization, providing strategic direction and hands-on leadership to ensure high-quality software solutions are delivered on time and within scope. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing and mentoring engineering teams, setting technical standards and best practices, coordinating cross-functional projects with product and operations, and driving continuous improvement in development processes and tools.
The Head of Engineering will define the technology roadmap, align engineering initiatives with business goals, and ensure effective communication, resource planning, and risk management across all engineering activities. This position also involves active participation in architectural decisions, reviewing code and designs when needed, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and performance-oriented culture.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Team Management and Team Leadership, with a track record of building, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong Engineering Management experience, including setting technical direction,
establishing processes, and aligning engineering efforts with strategic business objectives.
- Proficiency in Project Management, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver complex initiatives, manage stakeholders, and ensure timely, high-quality execution.
- Hands-on background in Software Development, with solid understanding of modern architectures, development methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with product, design, and business stakeholders.
- Experience leading engineering teams in a technology-driven company; prior leadership in a similar Head of Engineering or senior engineering role is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and scalable engineering processes;
experience with cloud platforms and modern tooling is a plus.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Milan Metropolitan Area and contribute to an inclusive, non-discriminatory workplace culture.
