Project Manager

At GEODIS Contract Logistics Italy, every new customer, every warehouse startup and every automation project is a promise we make to our clients. We are looking for a Project Manager who can turn that promise into reality.
You will lead complex logistics projects from the first design to go live and stabilization. This is not a PMO role. It is a delivery role, close to operations, where your decisions shape how our warehouses work every day.
What you will do
You will own a portfolio of projects that may include:
- New customer implementations, site startups and transitions
- Warehouse redesign, process improvement and operational transformation
- Automation projects, such as AS/RS, AMR/AGV, shuttles, sorters and goods to person solutions, including WMS, WES, WCS and TMS integration
- Actively drive the operational implementation of process changes arising from client contract renegotiations, scope modifications, and activity insourcing.
In practice, you will:
- Lead each project from start to finish: planning, milestones, budget, risks and change
- Bring together SD, BD, Operations, Engineering, IT, Procurement, HR, Finance and technology partners around one shared plan
- Be a trusted point of contact for customers, helping them take decisions and keeping expectations clear
- Make sure solutions work on the warehouse floor, not only on paper
- Prepare sites for go live and stay close to the team until performance is stable
- Set up clear governance, track KPIs and raise risks early, with solutions ready
Your technical expertise
You have built your skills on real projects. You are able to:
- Build and manage a full project plan: Gantt, action plan, critical path, resource planning, budget control and risk registers
- Apply waterfall, agile or hybrid approaches, choosing the right one for each project
- Design and validate warehouse processes: receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, returns and value-added services
- Size a warehouse operation: capacity, layout, labour planning, productivity standards and operational KPIs
- Read and challenge an automation proposal, understand its throughput logic and follow its implementation, testing and ramp up
- Work with IT on WMS, WES, WCS and TMS projects: functional requirements, interfaces, testing and cut over planning
- Prepare a go live readiness plan and manage the stabilization phase with clear performance targets
- Understand the economics of a contract logistics project: costs, productivity, service levels and their impact on the customer P&L;
- Apply Lean and continuous improvement methods to simplify processes and reduce waste

because trust matters more than a good-looking report.
- Thinks out of the box. You challenge existing methods and look for simpler, smarter solutions, while keeping discipline and control.
What you bring
- Around 5 to 10 years of experience in contract logistics, 3PL, supply chain or logistics engineering. What matters most is the complexity of the projects you have delivered, not the number of years.
- Proven experience in several of these areas: customer implementations, startups, transformation, automation, WMS projects or contract renewals. Nobody is expected to have done everything.
- A high school diploma and/or a university degree in Engineering, Management Engineering, Supply Chain, Economics or Business, or equivalent professional experience
- PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA, Agile/Scrum or Lean Six Sigma certifications are a plus, not a requirement
- Fluent Italian and professional English (B2 minimum, C1 preferred), as you will work with international colleagues and customers
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Italy, and abroad
