One of the largest general contractors in Europe are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a major engineering and construction project in Italy. This is a key role responsible for the successful delivery of mechanical systems packages across a large-scale installation project.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical project delivery, site management, health and safety, quality, subcontractor management and commercial control.
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of mechanical works, working closely with the wider project management team, engineers, client representatives and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of mechanical systems packages from mobilisation through to project completion.
- Manage day-to-day site operations and coordinate project teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Take responsibility for site health, safety and environmental requirements, working closely with the project and EHS teams.
- Manage project schedules in line with client requirements, engineering deliverables and overall project objectives.
- Monitor and control project costs, including: Mechanical project teams, Subcontractors, Materials and deliveries, Plant and equipment, Variations, Valuations.
- Manage subcontractor performance, including progress against programme and manpower requirements.
- Lead regular subcontractor meetings and ensure actions are recorded and followed through.
- Monitor project progress and manage the site's snagging/punch-list process through to completion.
- Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering and planning meetings, coordination meetings and handover meetings.
- Coordinate material deliveries in line with the project programme and maintain accurate delivery records.
- Maintain a weekly photographic record of project progress.
- Produce internal and external weekly progress reports, highlighting progress, delays, design issues, third-party constraints and project risks.
- Monitor programme KPIs and ensure accurate reporting against agreed project milestones.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are incorporated into supply chain and subcontractor agreements and are followed throughout the project.
- Support the project team with the final close-out of all project documentation, including: Final accounts, O&M; manuals, Punch lists, Safety files, QA documentation, Plant and material relocations, Project plans.
Key Requirements
- Trade qualification and/or relevant third-level qualification.
- 5 years' experience in Project Management, ideally within mechanical engineering, construction or building services.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a construction/project environment.
- Experience working on design-and-build projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services/systems.
- Excellent IT and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively to strict deadlines and programme requirements.
- Proven ability to lead and deliver large-scale projects from mobilisation through to completion.
