When a command conference starts, the video eitherworks or it does not, and someone has already made sure it does.That is this role. You would sit inside the operational supportteam of a communications unit in Sicily, looking after audio andvideo services end to end: setting them up, configuring them,keeping them ready, and putting them back together after anexercise. The work is practical and varied — senior-level videoteleconferencing one day, voice equipment and line patching thenext, and the preparation, deployment and recovery of kit aroundexercises and operational activity throughout. What you would bedoing Prepare, configure and deploy audio and video equipment, andkeep it aligned with the approved baseline configurations. Set upand manage video teleconferencing, including senior andcommand-level sessions. Install and configure voice equipment overboth ordinary and secure networks. Set up and tear down projectorsand sound equipment. Carry out approved endpoint updates andphysical line patching to the defined procedures and schedule.Handle incidents and service requests promptly and accurately.Prepare, deploy and recover equipment in support of exercises andoperational activity. Keep complete, accurate and auditable recordsof everything performed and delivered.
Support other communicationsservice areas within the unit where the work touches endpointservices. What you would bring At least two years hands-ondesigning, implementing and maintaining core network architecturefor large organisations. Practical experience with videoteleconferencing technologies. A sound practical understanding ofvoice over IP and of IP addressing. Comfortable logging andtracking your own work in a service-desk tool. Comfort in astructured environment — procedures, processes, checklists andinstructions. A basic grasp of IT security practice: passwordhandling, access control, safe use of devices. The ability tofollow and improve documented procedures, and to prioritise whenseveral things break at once. Good communication with users andcolleagues, and accurate record-keeping. Willingness to work onsite and, when a project or transition needs it, for extendedhours. Fluent professional English, around CEFR B2 to C1.Experience in NATO environments, knowledge of ITIL practice,end-user IT support in an enterprise or operational setting, andgood working knowledge of Windows and basic networking are alldesirable.
