Department Overview The Data Center SSD Firmware team develops advanced embedded firmware solutions for Micron’s next-generation storage products. The team focuses on delivering high-performance and reliable firmware for enterprise and cloud environments, working closely with hardware, validation, and system engineering teams.
Position Overview As a Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will build high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. You will support the evaluation, development, testing, debugging, and failure analysis of firmware for next-generation memory controllers and Data Center Solid State Drives (SSD). You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve product development issues, triage failures,
and isolate firmware and system-level issues.
Responsibilities Develop, test, and debug embedded firmware for Data Center SSD controllers and memory systems. Analyze firmware behavior, troubleshoot failures, and perform root‑cause analysis. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify, reproduce, and resolve product issues. Contribute to firmware validation, integration, and performance optimization activities. Participate in code reviews, bug tracking, and continuous improvement of development processes.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. Experience or academic background in embedded firmware development. Programming experience in Python and familiarity with at least one system-level language (e.g., C/C++).
