Location: Rome, Italy, in-office, Piazza Risorgimento. This is not a remote or hybrid role.

Team: Four managers (Marketing, Content, Multi-Media, plus PR and social specialists), roughly nine people including contractors, with two seats to hire.

About the role

The Tour Guy is a European tour operator and marketplace selling tours and experiences across six markets. Our playbook works: paid search, paid social, email and content already drive most of our bookings. We want a Marketing Director to take that playbook off the founder's desk, run it harder, and scale it into new destinations.

This is a hands-on operating role, not a strategy role. You inherit a working channel mix and a defined brand. Your job is to hold a multi-discipline team to weekly numbers, find problems in the data before anyone else does, and expand what already converts. If you want to rebrand a company, this is the wrong role. If you want to own a €4m+ budget and be measured on what it returns, it is the right one.

What you will own

• Paid media performance.



Set and defend ROAS and contribution targets across Google Ads and Meta. Catch misallocation, wrong geography, wrong product, wrong bid, before it costs money.
• Email and lifecycle. Own Klaviyo end to end: flow architecture, segmentation, deliverability, revenue per recipient. Expand cart and browse abandonment and build destination-routed pre-arrival and post-purchase flows.
• Team accountability. Manage four direct managers on a weekly rolling-KPI cadence. At least one report needs active development rather than delegation.
• Two open hires. Recruit and onboard a PR specialist and a social coordinator from scratch, including how we source UGC.
• New-destination launches. Build the repeatable demand plan — paid, email, newsletter, content, social — held to 5x ROAS.
• Analytics, hands-on. GA4, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, Klaviyo, the ad platforms. You build your own reports.
• Cross-functional pull.
