GSM s.r.o.
What are you working on?
- At what stage of the project(s)? Concept development and initial prototyping
GSM s.r.o. is looking for a Game Designer who can turn an idea into engaging, coherent and clearly documented gameplay.
You will shape what players do, the decisions they make, what brings them back, and how individual mechanics work together. A key part of the role is explaining your design clearly enough for the team to build and test a prototype.
For which tasks (responsibilities)?
• Develop game concepts in response to a brief.
• Define the core gameplay loop: player actions, goals, challenges, feedback and rewards.
• Design and document mechanics, rules, difficulty curves and progression.
• Explore different player behaviours and interactions between game systems.
• Create clear game design documentation, supported by examples and diagrams.
• Identify the smallest set of mechanics needed for an initial prototype.
• Work with the team to test ideas and refine gameplay.
What kind of professional are we looking for?
• The ability to design gameplay and explain what makes it engaging.
• Systems thinking: understanding how mechanics connect, spotting contradictions and anticipating the effects of design decisions.
• Clear, structured written communication.
• The ability to match the scope of an idea to the team's resources.
• Openness to feedback, testing assumptions and revising your approach.
Experience contributing to games is a strong advantage. We also welcome candidates with strong independent projects, prototypes or game design documentation.
We want to see how you think and develop a gameplay experience.
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience taking a concept through to a playable prototype.
• Playtesting experience and examples of improving mechanics based on feedback.
• An understanding of development, game interfaces and visual asset production.
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping tools, including AI tools.
• Russian language skills are a plus, but are not required.
Programming, illustration and animation are not mandatory for this role.
Why do we enjoy working here?
We will start with a specific game concept, agreeing on scope, timeline and deliverables in advance. This may develop into ongoing project work or a permanent role.
Compensation will be discussed individually, based on experience and the scope of work.
What are the conditions and bonuses?
Remote | Project-based contract | Open to candidates in different countries
The selection process
We will first discuss your experience and work samples. The next step will be a small paid exercise focused on a game mechanic. We will agree on the scope, deadline and payment beforehand.
HOW TO APPLY
Please include:
• A short introduction and a summary of your relevant experience.
• Examples of game concepts, design documents, prototypes or released games, with a note about your contribution.
• Your preferred collaboration format and availability.
• Your compensation expectations.
For one of your examples, tell us what problem you were solving, why you chose those mechanics and what changed after you tested the idea.
