Offer Description
The project examines how the shift from traditional cultural gatekeepers to decentralized, algorithm-driven platforms such as TikTok is reshaping inequalities in the cultural market. The analysis focuses on three dimensions: gender, assessing the effects on visibility, representation, and commercial success; socioeconomic background,
investigating whether content dissemination democratizes access or reinforces existing disparities; and geography, examining whether algorithmic distribution broadens cultural production and consumption beyond major metropolitan centers. The pre-doctoral researcher will support data collection, organization, cleaning, analysis, and interpretation; participate in research meetings; and contribute to the preparation of conference materials and academic publications. This position will provide the opportunity to engage with the entire academic research process while collaborating closely with faculty members and doctoral researchers.
