About Kirby Group Engineering Kirby Group Engineering is an international multi-disciplinary engineering services contractor and leading provider of high-value engineering services to a number of ‘blue chip’ companies. Operating across Ireland, the UK, Europe and South Africa, Kirby has become the engineering service provider of choice in growth segments such as pharmaceuticals, data centres and power transmission and distribution. Our culture is innovative, collaborative and performance focused. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop in a company committed to developing talent and rewarding performance. Mechanical Commissioning Lead – Data Centre Project If you’re the kind of engineer who wants to take real ownership of commissioning — not just tick boxes — this should get your attention. We’re delivering a major data centre project. It’s fast‑paced, highly technical and full of the sort of moving parts where strong commissioning leadership makes or breaks the job. That’s why we’re looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Lead who knows how to bring systems online properly, manage multiple specialists,

and keep both the quality and the momentum exactly where they need to be. What You’ll Do You’ll be the person who makes sure the commissioning doesn’t just happen — it happens in the right sequence, with the right documentation, and to the standard the client expects. That Includes

- Reviewing IFC drawings, specs and technical submittals
- Working closely with the PM and QS on any commissioning‑related cost impacts
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their development
- Developing and implementing the commissioning plan
- Coordinating commissioning with planners, package engineers and vendors
- Attending client commissioning meetings and ensuring alignment
- Getting all descriptions of operations and setpoints approved
- Ensuring checklists, scripts, and documentation meet client standards
- Managing specialist vendors and ensuring their activities align with programme
- Verifying and witnessing commissioning activities
- Running and updating commissioning trackers, logs and weekly progress reports
- Leading walkdowns, tag walks and system sign‑off
- Managing snag lists and ensuring issues are closed out quickly
- Ensuring client training is completed on schedule

Quality & Risk You’ll help define system boundaries, manage benchmarks, oversee test packs, and ensure everything is accurate, compliant and ready for inspection. You’ll also take a proactive role in identifying risks, reporting them clearly, and helping the project team stay ahead of possible delays. Communication & Commercial Awareness You’ll issue weekly commissioning and risk reports, advise on potential variations, and work closely with QS and PM teams to avoid surprises. Clear communication is essential — especially when something might impact programme. Who This Suits If you like being the person who brings systems to life, who spots issues early, and who knows how to manage commissioning in a structured but practical way — you’ll thrive here. Data centre experience is an advantage, but strong commissioning leadership and mechanical expertise matter most. You’ll enjoy this role if you prefer action over bureaucracy, responsibility over hand‑holding, and clarity over chaos. Special consideration will be given to candidates belonging to protected categories under L. 68⁄99 For more information on this role, or other Construction / Engineering opportunities across Ireland, the UK, Europe, or South Africa please review our careers page (Vacancies - Kirby Group Careers) or contact the Talent Acquisition Team at Kirby Group in confidence on +353 (0) . We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of race, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age.
