Through laser-based wireless power transmission, we aim to overcome the energy limitations of today’s satellites and enable longer, more capable, and more resilient operations in orbit. /p pWe are looking for a bJunior Mechanical Engineer /b to support the development of ORiS’s laser-based wireless power transmission systems for both defence and space applications. /p pWorking closely with the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the mechanical development of LOONA as it evolves from an advanced prototype into a robust and deployable product, while also supporting the design and integration of the mechanical subsystems for ORiS’s inter-satellite WPT mission. /p pThis is a hands‑on engineering role covering the full development cycle, from early concepts and CAD design to manufacturing, assembly, testing, and system integration. You will collaborate with the Optical, Electronics, Pointing, Thermal, and Systems Engineering teams to transform technical requirements into reliable mechanical solutions. /p h3bWhat You Will Do /b /h3 ul liSupport the Lead Mechanical Engineer in the design and development of mechanical systems for ORiS’s space and defence programmes. /li liContribute to the evolution of LOONA from prototype to product, improving its mechanical architecture, robustness, manufacturability, portability, and ease of assembly. /li liSupport the design of structures, mechanisms, optical mounts, enclosures, interfaces, and assemblies for the inter-satellite WPT mission.
/li liCreate and maintain 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, and mechanical documentation. /li liPerform preliminary structural calculations, tolerance analyses, material selection, and mechanical sizing activities. /li liWork with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support component production and resolve technical issues. /li liParticipate directly in prototype assembly, mechanical integration, laboratory testing, and field trials. /li liSupport functional, vibration, thermal, and environmental verification activities. /li liCollaborate with Optical, Electronics, Pointing, Thermal, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering teams. /li /ul h3bWhat We Are Looking For /b /h3 ul liMSc in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. /li liUp to 2 years of experience in mechanical design, including relevant university, research, or personal projects. /li liStrong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and technical drawing. /li liProficiency with a professional CAD tool such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or Siemens NX. /li liBasic knowledge of structural analysis, tolerancing, and mechanical sizing. /li liHands‑on attitude and willingness to participate in assembly, testing, and field activities.
