# Job description We are looking for a specialist in fluid-structure interaction and material behavior at high temperatures and deformation rates, to be included in the Numerical Naval Architecture Business Unit within the Maritime Engineering & Research Area. The resource will be part of a group of experts in structures, thermo-mechanics and material dynamics with different professional backgrounds and seniority levels and will be involved in both Applied Research/Methodological Development activities and design support in the following areas: * Mechanical, thermal and thermo-mechanical response of structures in metallic materials or polymer and ceramic-based composites. * Modeling of material behavior at high deformation rates in the presence of high temperatures. * Fluid-structure coupling for the transfer of mechanical and thermal loads from fluid to structure. * Experimental characterization and selection of materials for the required applications. The resource will initially be involved in a series of initiatives concerning the development and qualification of technological solutions for the thermal protection of surface naval units, in collaboration with various other companies and Business Units of the Fincantieri Group and with other external partners to the Group, such as research centers, experimental laboratories and university groups. # Activities * Applied research activities for the methodological development of numerical methods based on physical-mathematical governing equations and/or machine learning and artificial intelligence methods. * Calibration and validation of numerical models through analysis and correlation with experimental data. * Support for the design of measurement campaigns for the validation of numerical models. * Development of numerical simulations to support the R&D; process of innovative technological solutions for the thermal protection of surface naval units.
* Preparation of technical documentation in Italian and English for the presentation and discussion of results. * Interaction with project partners through participation in periodic meetings in person and remotely. * Contribution to the preparation of technical proposals for research activities or engineering consultancy. # Requirements * Master's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent. * Preferably PhD in Structural Dynamics, Fluid-Structure Interaction or equivalent. * Experience in numerical simulation with non-linear FEM method in dynamic, thermal, thermo-mechanical fields (preferably MSC Software Nastran, Marc, Patran, Mentat environment). * Experience with explicit calculation codes for fluid-structure interaction (preferably LS-DYNA). * Familiarity with SW development for personal productivity and interface with calculation codes (e.g. Python). * Familiarity with CAD tools and modeling to support CAE analyzes (preferably Rhinoceros). * Interest in the development, validation and application of numerical calculation methods applied to engineering. * Ability to solve complex problems and develop creative and innovative solutions. * Good knowledge of spoken and written English. **Compensation & Agevolazioni Package** * For the position in question, the gross annual salary will be between € 32,000 and € 41,000. * Employee qualification * Bonuses as per 2nd level supplementary negotiation * Supplementary health care * Welfare (benefits and services to promote well-being and work-life balance) * Meal vouchers **Transparency note** The company reserves the right, at the end of the selection process, to formulate an offer with a different classification level and/or remuneration compared to what is indicated in this announcement, in coherence with the professional experience, technical and transversal skills possessed by the resource.
