Help us build the future of data at Albert Heijn
Do you enjoy turning complex challenges into clear priorities and scalable solutions? Join Albert Heijn and help shape a platform that enables colleagues to work with data securely, efficiently, and at scale.
At Albert Heijn, we are looking for a Product Owner for Managed Azure Databricks (MAD) — the managed Databricks platform that provides secure, governed, and operationally supported data environments across Albert Heijn.
What makes this role exciting?
MAD has evolved into a strategically important platform within our data landscape. We see Databricks as a strong strategic partner for the years to come, while the platform itself continues to develop rapidly across data engineering, analytics, AI, governance, and platform operations.
This creates an exciting product challenge: deciding which capabilities we adopt, how we integrate them into our organization, how we support our users, and how we ensure that our investment generates lasting value.
As Product Owner, you work with the Databricks Platform Staff Engineer to turn strategy, user needs, and stakeholder input into a clear roadmap and strong execution. You set priorities, manage dependencies, and help teams across Albert Heijn create value from data in areas such as analytics, AI, supply chain, and BonusBox.
This role is about driving adoption, ease of use, and real value, while improving the platform based on user needs and keeping MAD scalable, reliable, and focused on reusable solutions.
What you’ll do
- Own and evolve the MAD roadmap, turning strategy and stakeholder needs into clear priorities, plans, and trade-offs, while ensuring alignment on commitments, dependencies, and product processes.
- Work closely with engineers, architects, other Product Owners, and stakeholders across the data landscape to align dependencies and delivery
- Engage with users to understand their needs, identify improvements, and continuously enhance the platform (user) experience while reducing complexity and cognitive load
- Drive scalable, cost-effective platform use while contributing to the reliability and operational maturity of MAD as a business-critical platform.
- Help drive the adoption of MAD capabilities together with the Success Team (communication, training, ways of working, AI-assisted support) and help implement relevant Databricks features in ways that fit Albert Heijn and create sustainable value.
- Work towards making successful platform capabilities reusable rather than solving the same problem repeatedly for individual teams
Making room for differences
We believe that everyone should feel comfortable being themselves and feel welcome and valued at work. We embrace different perspectives, experiences and backgrounds, and actively work to build engaged teams where everyone has the opportunity to contribute. We believe that different perspectives help us make better decisions and achieve better results together.
We look at the talents, knowledge, experience and personality you bring. Don’t meet every requirement but still see yourself in this role? We encourage you to apply. We welcome candidates with different backgrounds and experiences and are curious to hear what you can bring and what you would like to contribute.
What we’re looking for
- 2-5 years’ experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or in a similar role within a platform, data, technology, or digital environment
- Affinity with technology and a solid understanding of cloud and data platform concepts, enabling effective collaboration with engineers and architects.
- Strong product management, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to translate user needs into clear priorities and product decisions.
- A collaborative mindset and the confidence to make trade-offs and say no when a request does not fit a scalable platform approach
- Experience working in agile teams and delivering products through close collaboration with engineering teams
- A drive to build products that are secure, scalable, sustainable, and genuinely valuable for users
You do not need to know every detail of Databricks when you start. What matters is that you are curious about technology, comfortable working with technical teams, and motivated to understand both the platform and the people who use it.
Join Albert Heijn to shape a strategic platform at the heart of our data landscape, where your product decisions will help teams across the business create value and drive how we use data and technology at scale.
