Lead Brain Platform System Debug Engineer
Pubblicato il 06-10-2026 - KPIT Technologies in Torino
We are seeking a Lead Brain Platform System Debug & War Room Engineer to support software issue investigation, root cause analysis, validation and triage activities for Brain Core ECUs, including High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Cabin Zone Control Unit (Cabin ZCU) platforms.
The role is part of a Brain War Room that operates within a wider ecosystem of vehicle-domain war rooms. The engineer will investigate issues identified during program validation, reproduce them on available validation systems, analyse and root-cause failures, collaborate with specialist teams, and help establish responsibility for corrective action and solution release.
This is primarily a debugging, troubleshooting and support role rather than a feature-development position. It requires a strong understanding of Base Software (BSW), software architecture, vehicle E&E; architecture, diagnostics, software flashing and update processes.
Platform Environment
- Brain Core ECUs, with focus on HPC and Cabin ZCU platforms
- Qualcomm 7255 and 8255 based HPC platforms
- QNX and Android 14 environments within a hypervisor-based architecture
- AUTOSAR BSW and vehicle platform components
- Communication over CAN, CAN-FD and Automotive Ethernet
- Software integration across Brain Core, Cockpit and ADAS scopes
- Functions potentially affected include infotainment, radio, rear and surround-view cameras, audio, cluster, driver indication, driver monitoring, displays and video cameras
- FOTA functionality supported by both HPC and Cabin ZCU
Key Responsibilities
Issue Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
- Understand and assess software or system issues identified during bench, HIL/VHIL, vehicle, fleet and program-validation activities.
- Reproduce issues using the validation environments available to the war room.
- Perform system-level debugging, initial root cause analysis and technical triage.
- Analyse interactions between Brain Core software, Cockpit software, ADAS software and vehicle networks.
- Collaborate with other domain war rooms and specialist engineering teams to determine issue ownership, corrective actions and release paths.
Platform Debugging & Validation
- Debug software running on Qualcomm-based HPC and Cabin ZCU platforms.
- Analyse issues across QNX, Android and hypervisor-based environments.
- Reflash software, execute software updates and support FOTA-related investigations.
- Verify corrective actions and confirm whether reported issues have been resolved.
- Make small, targeted software or configuration changes to test hypotheses and support technical decisions.
Diagnostics & Analysis
- Use diagnostic and analysis methods involving UDS, DoIP, CAN, CAN-FD and Ethernet.
- Capture and analyse logs and traces using tools such as Logcat, DLT, CAN analysis tools, Ethernet analysis tools
and Wireshark.
- Document findings, evidence, root causes, workarounds and recommended next steps.
Collaboration & Technical Coordination
- Work closely with war room members and leaders, BSW and software developers, testing teams, quality teams,
vehicle integration teams and management.
- Coordinate technical working groups and collaborate with other vehicle-domain war rooms.
- Support and guide technical decisions during issue triage and escalation.
- Explain complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, status updates, charts and glidepath updates.
Validation Environment Support
- Work hands-on with benches, HIL/VHIL environments and vehicles.
- Perform minor wiring changes or bench modifications when required to reproduce or isolate an issue.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems,
Automotive Engineering or a comparable field.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded software debugging, BSW or platform integration,
system validation, vehicle
software troubleshooting or root cause analysis.
- Strong understanding of automotive E&E; architecture, vehicle subsystem interactions and HPC software
architectures.
- Hands-on experience with system-level debugging, issue reproduction, root cause analysis and technical triage.
- Experience with BSW, embedded software architecture and software integration.
- Practical experience with hypervisor-based platforms and working knowledge of QNX and Android environments.
- Hands-on experience with software flashing, software updates and FOTA concepts.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics and communication technologies, including UDS, DoIP, CAN, CAN-FD and
Ethernet.
- Experience using logs, traces and common analysis tools such as Logcat, DLT, CAN analysis tools and
Wireshark.
- Hands-on experience with benches, HIL/VHIL environments and/or vehicle testing.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly, coordinate cross-functional investigations and prepare
concise technical reports and presentations.
- Ability to work mainly on-site in Turin and support exceptional, limited travel when required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Qualcomm 7255 and/or 8255 automotive SoCs.
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR BSW and/or Adaptive AUTOSAR.
- Experience supporting automotive war rooms, vehicle-integration programs or high-priority software issue
resolution.
- Exposure to one or more relevant domains such as infotainment, displays, cameras, audio, cluster, connectivity,
driver monitoring or vehicle networking.
- Familiarity with issue-tracking, software-release and quality-management processes.
- Ability to perform basic bench wiring changes or hardware setup adaptations.
Working Model & Location
- Primary work location: Turin, Italy.
- The activity is expected to take place mainly on-site due to hands-on work with benches, vehicles and validation
systems.
- Travel is expected only in exceptional and limited situations, for example to support debugging on a vehicle at a
production site.
