With over 100 years of industry experience, MedTug manages a specialised fleet of more than 170 vessels supporting harbour, coastal and offshore operations. The Company is part of the MSC and Boluda Groups and operates in major Italian and international ports, with a consolidated presence across the Mediterranean Sea and Northern Europe.
To support our Technical Department, we are currently looking for a Technical Superintendent – International Fleet.
The successful candidate will join the Technical Department and will be responsible for coordinating and supervising assigned technical activities across MedTug’s international perimeter, ensuring alignment with fleet operational needs, project requirements and company standards across different ports and countries.

Role and Responsibilities:
The Technical Superintendent will contribute to the effective coordination of technical projects, operational support and programme management activities within the international fleet perimeter, including harbour towage and offshore support operations. Based within the Regional Technical Department, the role supports and supervises technical activities carried out by the relevant operating units, including on-site attendance when required.
- Coordinate with other Technical Superintendents on special projects across the international perimeter, including vessel upgrades, modifications and technical improvement initiatives
- Attend vessels in the event of breakdowns, critical defects, planned maintenance, major repairs or operational contingencies, including at short notice where necessary
- Support the diagnosis and troubleshooting of technical issues on board,
helping to define priorities, corrective actions, required resources and execution plans through to satisfactory close-out
- Plan, coordinate and supervise maintenance activities on board, ensuring effective alignment among vessel personnel, local technical teams, ship managers, workshops, contractors, suppliers and Class
- Carry out periodic vessel visits and technical inspections, documenting findings and ensuring that agreed actions are assigned, monitored and completed
- Prepare for and attend dry dockings in person, actively supporting the development of work scopes, technical specifications, repair lists, schedules and cost controls
- Support the implementation and effective use of maintenance management systems and other digital tools supporting technical activities across the relevant operating units
- Monitor Class Certificate deadlines and related third-party inspections, working with the relevant Superintendent to define and implement corrective actions where needed
- Oversee technical documentation produced by Superintendents, Masters and Chief Engineers, ensuring proper updates, data quality and traceability across the assigned perimeter
- Support commercial activities in collaboration with the Chartering Department, including gap analyses and the identification of technical upgrades or interventions required to meet client and contractual requirements in different international contexts
- Provide technical support for offshore-related operations and projects, including vessel readiness, client requirements, mobilisation activities and compliance with applicable technical and safety standards
- Supervise and prepare technical budgets in liaison with the Technical Manager, ensuring consistency across assigned projects and operating areas
Requirements:
- At least 5 years’ experience in fleet maintenance, with exposure to hull, engine, mechanical and/or electrical maintenance activities
- Practical experience in vessel maintenance and repair, with the ability to provide effective technical support to operating units and shipboard teams
- Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance coordination and follow-up of technical actions
- Direct experience in dry-dock preparation and attendance, including progress review, testing and close-out
- Strong coordination, communication and stakeholder management skills, with a practical and collaborative approach in multicultural and multi-site environments
- Availability for international travel and periodic attendance on board or at shipyards, in line with operational and project needs
- Knowledge of Dynamic Positioning Systems will be considered an advantage
- Previous exposure to offshore support vessels, offshore logistics, mobilisation/demobilisation activities or marine operations supporting offshore projects will be considered an advantage
- Knowledge of technical information systems for purchasing and maintenance activities; experience with AMOS, SAP or similar systems will be considered an advantage
- Experience in international or multi-site technical environments, with the ability to coordinate activities and stakeholders across different countries
- Fluency in English
